About the position

The selected candidate will support the implementation of the communications activities of the CGIAR AgriLAC Resiliente Initiative and the Climate Action team in LAC. The geographical scope of the work includes the Latin America and the Caribbean region with an emphasis on prioritized countries of AgriLAC Resiliente (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Colombia, M xico and Per ).

The position will be based in the operations center of the Americas, located in the Campus of Palmira, Colombia.


Key Responsibilities

Establish the communications strategy and procedures


Implement the communications strategy for the Initiative and work packages, including identification of internal and external audiences and opportunities for engagement, in partnership with Initiative leadership.

Ensure coordination and alignment with CGIAR s broader communications strategy around the Portfolio of Initiatives.

Work with other Initiative-level communicators, Communications & Outreach (C&O) group lead to ensure flow of information between Initiatives, as well as with the C&O Global Group and Centers communications teams.

Engage with C&O working groups as appropriate to ensure coordinated engagement (e.g., knowledge management, event participation, stakeholder engagement).




Develop communications content and opportunities for engagement


Work with the Initiative team to develop clear messages and means of communicating research, particularly to non-research audiences.

Advise Initiative team on how to generate awareness and publicity within the job.

Actively engage in planning, monitoring, and executing communication campaigns and activities as part of the Initiative.

Develop and oversee the development of strategic communications content, including blogs, interactives, infographics, videos, social media, with a particular focus on reaching partners and stakeholders in the region.

Monitor global and regional media for Initiative-related opportunities and actively engage with relevant reporters on Initiative work via press releases, relationship building, etc., as appropriate.

Organize internal and external support for more elaborate or specialized communication tasks, events, publications, or other outputs (e.g., event planning and logistical support, editing, graphic design, media engagement).


Website and social media


Provide content coworking with the initiative and WP (work package) leads to feed the initiative microsite on cgiar.org

Keep websites related to the Initiative current, relevant, and up to date and in consultation with CGIAR guidelines.

Develop Initiative social media content and/or maintain Initiative social media presence on the media accounts of the CGIAR and the CG Centers. Media accounts including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube channels, ensuring that the initiative information is properly tagged, described, and posted.

Branding


Ensure the program is fully compliant with CGIAR Initiative branding under acknowledgement guidelines.

Protect and promote the correct use of the Initiative brand in all internal and external communication.

Ensure Initiative staff are aware of the communication and branding/funder acknowledgement guidelines and have appropriate resources to comply.


Internal communication and other tasks


Manage Initiative-level knowledge management needs, including photo databases and curation of papers and publications to CGIAR databases and repositories.

Other duties as assigned related to AgriLAC or Climate Action in LAC.




Requirements

Qualifications and requirements

Bachelor s degree in international communications, Journalism, or another relevant fields.

Specialization or master s degree in International Communications, Journalism, or similar degrees.

Minimum five (5) years of experience in communications, with a preference for experience in international settings, particularly Latin America and the Caribbean.

Excellent writing and critical thinking skills and ability to convey complex data ideas and messages in a clear and easy-to-understand manner.

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative, and decentralized environment, including across teams at several levels.

Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced PowerPoint and presentation skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.

Strong interest in science and agricultural development issues.

Terms of employment


This is a national recruited position placed at a BG07, on a scale of 14 levels, with level 14 being the highest.

This is a Colombian national search and will be managed through a fixed term contract of a one (1) year period, subject to a probation period according to the local legislation and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
