The role is responsible for overseeing the design development testing commissioning and handover of PSD systems for railway projects. This role ensures that PSD systems are accurately designed seamlessly integrated with signalling communication and traction systems and compliant with safety and operational standards. The specialist provides technical leadership resolves system-related issues and ensures the PSD system is delivered on time within budget and meets client expectations.
Key accountabilities-
1. Ensures the safety functionality and compliance of newly implemented or altered assets engineering processes procedures or systems.
2. Provides technical development and implementation of low complexity engineering solutions through the application of defined engineering standards and governance.
3. Provides internal stakeholders with appropriate professional advice to ensure the development or delivery of high quality tested engineering solutions.
4. Undertakes on-site risk-based monitoring and surveillance of works as required resolving and or escalating risks and issues as appropriate.
5. Evaluates selects and applies appropriate solutions to low risk/value/complexity engineering problems that improve efficiency or effectiveness while improving safety and reducing operating costs.
6. Supports continuous improvement using best practice innovation cost optimization and effective root cause analysis.
7. Review and validate PSD system designs ensuring compliance with project specifications and international safety standards.
8. Ensure seamless integration of PSD systems with signaling SCADA and communication systems.
9. Technical Coordination: Work closely with design consultants signaling engineers and safety teams to ensure alignment.
10. Ensure PSD designs include all necessary safety features (emergency exits obstruction detection fire resistance).
11. Recommend design modifications to enhance PSD performance safety and energy efficiency.
12. Verify that the PSD design meets local national and international standards (EN IEC NFPA).
13. Reviewing the design of PSD systems with effective access control for passengers (opening and closing mechanisms).
14. Ensure PSD structure (glass panels sliding mechanisms) is robust and durable.
15. Reviewing the design documents including system architecture layout drawings and technical specifications.
16. Collaborate with clients consultants and other stakeholders to align design requirements.
17. Oversee the implementation of PSD systems ensuring compliance with design specifications.
18. Manage the installation of PSD components (doors guide rails motors sensors).
19. Supervise the installation and configuration of PSD control software.
20. Ensure accurate installation of PSD panels maintaining proper alignment and door sealing.
21. Ensure PSD systems are equipped with security features (anti-tamper mechanisms emergency releases).
22. Verify PSD compatibility with other interfacing subsystems (signaling traction SCADA Rolling Stock).
23. Conduct site inspections to ensure PSD installation adheres to safety and quality standards.
24. Provide guidance to development teams on design interpretation and problem resolution.
25. Regularly update project management on PSD system design installation and testing progress.
26. Develop detailed testing plans for the PSD system covering functional performance and safety aspects.
27. Conduct inspections of installed PSDs ensuring accurate installation and alignment.
28. Verify that PSDs operate correctly in sync with train arrival and departure signals.
29. Ensure PSDs are tested for safety features (obstruction detection emergency release fire resistance).
30. Confirm PSDs synchronize accurately with train doors during operations.
31. Identify and resolve any mechanical or software issues encountered during installation and testing.
32. Review the Simulation of emergency situations to ensure PSDs respond correctly.
33. Test PSD response time operational speed and reliability under various conditions.
34. Prepare detailed test reports including identified issues and corrective actions.
35. Conduct a final review of the PSD system with client representatives ensuring full compliance with specifications.
36. Ensure submission of complete PSD system documentation (as-built drawings user manuals configuration files).
37. Coordinate the resolution of any defects identified during the final inspection.
38. Complete formal handover of the PSD system to the client ensuring all acceptance criteria are met.
39. Oversee the warranty period ensuring all warranty obligations are met.
40. Provide technical support to the client during the initial operational period.
41. Ensure the PSD system has all necessary certifications and approvals from relevant authorities.
42. System Reliability Management: Monitor PSD system performance during the initial operation period resolving any issues.
43. Facilitate the transition of the PSD system from the project team to the clients operations team.
44. Lead and mentor PSD design and development teams providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
45. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for PSD design and implementation.
46. Explore and implement new PSD technologies (full-height PSDs half-height PSDs energy-efficient systems).
47. Continuously review and enhance PSD system safety to protect passengers and maintain system integrity.
48. Act as the primary point of contact for PSD-related discussions with clients and vendors.
49. Monitor PSD system costs ensuring they remain within the approved budget.
50. Identify and mitigate PSD-related risks throughout the project lifecycle.
51. Continuously review and optimize PSD system performance for reliability and safety.
52. Document lessons learned during the project to improve future PSD designs and implementations.
53. Ensure PSD design is in line with the O&M strategy
54. Assist O & M team in managing the fault during Defect Notification Period.
55. Ensuring PSD complies with RAMS requirement EN 50126
56. Assist System Assurance team in ensuring PSD compliance to System Assurance requirements.
Qualifications :
