Develop implement and maintain workplace health and safety programs and policies.
Conduct risk assessments safety inspections and audits across worksites and facilities.
Investigate incidents near misses and hazards; provide detailed reports and follow-up actions.
Ensure compliance with local state and federal health and safety regulations (e.g. OSHA WHMIS).
Deliver safety training toolbox talks and orientation sessions for employees and contractors.
Advise management and staff on occupational health and safety matters.
Coordinate emergency response plans drills and first aid readiness.
Liaise with regulatory agencies third-party auditors and internal stakeholders.
Monitor and report on safety performance metrics and recommend improvements.
Support development of Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
Keep up to date with relevant health and safety legislation standards and best practices.
Degree diploma or certification in Occupational Health and Safety Environmental Health or related discipline.
3 years of experience in a health and safety role preferably in industry-specific experience if needed e.g. construction manufacturing oil & gas.
In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and regulatory frameworks.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication training and interpersonal abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
CRSP NEBOSH CHSC or equivalent health and safety certifications.
Experience with ISO 45001 COR or other safety management systems.
First Aid/CPR WHMIS or other relevant safety training certifications.
Incident investigation (e.g. TapRooT Root Cause Analysis) training.
