Retail Sales Associate / Cashier – Job Description

We are seeking a friendly, customer-focused Retail Sales Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers by providing excellent service and maintaining efficient sales operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet and welcome customers as they enter the store.

Assist customers by answering questions, locating products, and offering advice or product recommendations.

Operate cash registers, barcode scanners, scales, and other point-of-sale equipment accurately and efficiently.

Ensure pricing and quantities are correct, and issue receipts for all purchases.

Accept various forms of payment including cash, credit, and debit cards, and provide change as needed.

Process returns, exchanges, and refunds according to company policy.

Resolve customer issues or complaints in a professional and courteous manner.

Bag or wrap purchases carefully to ensure safe transport.

Follow all company procedures for handling coupons, gift cards, and age-restricted items such as alcohol or tobacco.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area and workstations.

Reconcile and balance cash drawers at the end of shifts and generate sales reports.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly.

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
