Due to increased enrollment, North American International School is searching for a capable and trustworthy middle school English teacher to join our team of educators. Employee responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing engaging, differentiated lesson plans and curricula, based on California State Standards, collaborating with teachers within the English department, providing timely and meaningful feedback on student assessments, and addressing student performance issues. Potential candidates should be able to teach students from varied cultural backgrounds and be able to create lessons that adapt to various levels of learning within the classroom. Qualified candidates with teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) certification will be given top priority,
Middle School English Teacher Responsibilities:
Subject Expertise: Strong understanding of English grammar, composition, literature, and language arts, including various genres and historical contexts.
Curriculum Development: Ability to design and implement engaging lesson plans that align with educational standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
Literacy Instruction: Proficient in teaching reading comprehension, writing skills, and vocabulary development, using a variety of instructional strategies.
Critical Thinking: Encouraging students to analyze texts, express opinions, and engage in discussions that foster critical thinking and communication skills.
Assessment and Evaluation: Creating assessments that measure student understanding and progress, using formative and summative evaluation methods.
Differentiation: Adapting lessons and materials to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles, including English language learners.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively explain concepts and provide constructive feedback to students.
Literature Appreciation: Fostering a love for reading and literature by introducing students to a diverse range of texts and encouraging personal connections.
Classroom Management: Skills in creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and collaboration among students.
