Wastewater Treatment System Operator

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, procedures and acting in a safe manner at all times in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, ordinances and permit conditions.
• Maintain daily operational records required by the permit, O&M contract and Circon/STC including batch sheets, throughput sheets, waste generation sheets, maintenance tracking sheets, and calibration sheets.
• Perform daily inspections of the LTS; verify alarm conditions, review and reset, equipment on and off status. Confirm there are no spills or leaks. Gather daily flow reading and place on log sheets.
• Treat raw Leachate by means of adjusting pH, with acid or caustic, polymer treat and solids removal, calibrate tank pH meter as needed; transfer to appropriate holding tanks.
• Maintain and operate chemical feed tanks, filtration system monitor and change cartridges as needed.
• Monitor and operate sludge dryer and filter press. Manually dump filter press and dryer. Change filter clothes as needed or pressure wash.
• Monitor and operate Evaporator transfer to holding tank when temperature has been met. Clean and maintain Evaporator exhaust filter, slurry drier, Leachate Treatment system, and tanks.
• Ensure good housekeeping of the LTS building, lab and grounds is maintained.
• Perform general repair and preventive maintenance on LTS equipment.
• Maintain adequate inventories of raw materials, spare parts, filters, tools, etc. to operate the LTS system.
• Insure proper and safe transfer of materials between process equipment, tanks, and containers in accordance with applicable permits and State and Federal Regulations.
• Operate and maintain STC and site equipment for onsite use.
  

Shift:

The new employee will typically work 8 to 10 hours Mon - Fri while training. Then shift work is 5 AM - 5 PM; (Sun, Mon, Thu, Fri,) the first week, followed by (Tue, Wed, Sat) the second week. This shift repeats every two weeks.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of wastewater treatment plant operating experience; Class A WWTP Operator license prefered.
• Currently has or able to obtain 40 hour Hazwopper
• Strong mechanical aptitude, experienced in electrical, mechanical and plumbing repair concepts and techniques.
• Knowledgeable of landfill operation, leachate collection systems, tank farm operation, and pumps and pumping systems a plus.
• Possess a valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive Circon/STC and Pinewood site vehicles when required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must possess legible handwriting.
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate appropriate information as necessary to effectively perform job duties
  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to perform general office skills
• Requires standing, walking, carrying, stooping, crouching, sitting, grasping and reaching
• May require lifting, pulling and/or pushing up to 50 lbs
• Travel as required
