Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Adoption Social Worker to guide and support children birth parents and adoptive families through the adoption process. The successful candidate will handle assessments counseling placement coordination and post-adoption support to ensure the best outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct home studies family assessments and background checks for prospective adoptive parents.

  • Provide counseling and education to birth parents considering adoption.

  • Support adoptive families through the application and placement process.

  • Facilitate matching of children with suitable adoptive families prioritizing the childs best interests.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate case records reports and legal documentation in compliance with agency policies and state laws.

  • Serve as a liaison between birth parents adoptive families legal teams and adoption agencies.

  • Offer crisis intervention and emotional support throughout the adoption process.

  • Conduct post-placement visits to monitor adjustment and ensure child well-being.

  • Develop and deliver adoption education workshops or group sessions as needed.

  • Collaborate with other social workers counselors and community organizations to provide holistic support services.

  • Stay current with adoption laws policies and best practices.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Social Work (BSW/MSW) or a related field.

  • State licensure or certification as required for practicing social work.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in child welfare family services or adoption work preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of adoption laws processes and family dynamics.

  • Excellent communication counseling and mediation skills.

  • Empathy cultural sensitivity and the ability to handle emotionally complex situations.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and record-keeping.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel locally for home visits and meetings as required.

  • Commitment to child safety welfare and ethical practice.
