About the Role:
The Senior Transport Engineer will lead and contribute to the planning design and delivery of transport infrastructure projects. This role demands a strong foundation in traffic engineering transport planning and multi-modal design with the ability to manage complex projects and mentor junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership & Delivery
Manage and deliver transport engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and implementation.
Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met. - Technical Expertise
Apply advanced knowledge in traffic operations transport design and integrated transport assessments (ITAs)
Conduct traffic modelling (e.g. SIDRA) safety audits and multimodal transport analysis. - Client Engagement
Maintain strong relationships with public and private sector clients.
Provide strategic advice and technical input during project planning and stakeholder consultations. - Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare high-quality reports business cases and technical documentation
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and quality systems..
- Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings and suggest improvements to existing processes systems and procedures then deliver a plan for a small element of a change management program with guidance from a project/program manager.
- Knowledge Management System: Work within established knowledge management systems to deliver preset outcomes for an area of responsibility.
- Business Requirements Identification: Elicit complex business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews document analysis workshops and workflow analysis to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
- Feasibility Studies: Conduct complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes products or business unit structure.
- Contract Management: Deliver required outcomes by managing day-to-day relationships with contract service providers while working within an established contract management plan.
- Testing: Develop product specifications and design test procedures and standards.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Help develop procedures for an area of the organization and monitor their implementation.
- Product and Solution Development: Define and deliver products and services that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems.
- Project Management: Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
Qualifications & Skills- Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation
- Minimum 10 years of experience in transport engineering or planning
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent preferred.
- Proficiency in traffic modelling tools GIS and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience with UAE transport regulations and infrastructure projects is a plus
