Job Description
A Site Engineer in a fire fighting company is responsible for overseeing the planning design installation and maintenance of fire protection systems at various construction or industrial sites. They ensure that these systems comply with local regulations and safety standards coordinate with various stakeholders and manage site activities to ensure efficient and safe operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Design:
Developing fire protection system designs including fire alarms sprinklers and suppression systems often in collaboration with architects and designers.
Site Supervision:
Overseeing the installation testing and commissioning of fire protection systems ensuring they are installed correctly and function as designed.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensuring all work complies with relevant fire codes standards and regulations (e.g. NFPA local codes).
Coordination and Communication:
Working with contractors subcontractors and other site personnel to ensure smooth workflow and effective communication.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
Conducting site surveys and fire risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement preventative measures.
Documentation and Reporting:
Preparing and maintaining accurate records reports and documentation related to the fire protection systems and their installation.
Problem Solving:
Identifying and resolving technical issues and challenges that may arise during the project.
Budget and Schedule Management:
Managing project costs and timelines for the fire protection system installations.
Essential Skills:
Technical Expertise:
Strong understanding of fire protection systems fire codes and relevant engineering principles.
Project Management:
Ability to plan organize and manage projects effectively including scheduling budgeting and resource allocation.
Communication Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to identify and resolve technical issues and challenges effectively.
Leadership Skills:
Ability to lead and motivate site teams and act as a company representative.
Knowledge of Regulations:
Familiarity with local fire codes NFPA standards and other relevant regulations.
