Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking a Shipping Officer to join our team at GAC Jordan. As a Shipping Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the vessels calling at Aqaba under GAC agency. Your main duties will include:

  • Handling agency appointments, as well as operational and commercial matters for all types of vessels calling at Aqaba port under the agency of GAC Jordan.
  • Coordinating with Aqaba port authorities with regards to operations and documentation to ensure smooth delivery of services.
  • Handling export and import operations and documentation for Ro-Ro vessels.
  • Handling all husbandry matters such as crew changes, spare parts logistics, landed cargo and provisions supply, and ensure timely delivery of all services to the vessels calling at Aqaba port under our agency.
  • Handling and providing bunker supplies for vessels at Aqaba port.
  • Handling proforma DA inquiries and questions regarding rules, regulations and tariffs at Aqaba port.
  • Calculating the proforma disbursement account (DA) for vessels and following up on the settlement of pre-funding.
  • Calculating vessel bill charges as per tariffs, prepare final disbursement account (FDA) and sub-FDAs within the lead time, issuing all related credit and debit notes, and following up on FDA settlement with principals.
  • Checking and approving invoices, and ensuring all invoices are logged into the system accurately.
  • Documenting each service in the system and updating the relevant sheets for easy reference and accurate disbursement.
  • Ensuring all related files and communication are in line with GAC Jordan’s administrative procedures.
  • Assisting in the preparation of statistical report.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Logistics or Business
  • 0-1 years of experience
  • Valid driving license
  • Having a suitable car will be considered a plus
  • Key competencies:
    • Able to communicate effectively in both English & Arabic (verbally and in writing)
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
    • Problem-solving skills and ability to handle shipping issues efficiently
    • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively
    • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
