Job Details

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. This role is pivotal to our operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient procurement of materials, equipment, and services. The ideal candidate will be an experienced home builder with a strong background in purchasing, vendor and materials management, supply chain management, and inventory management. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing our supply chain to ensure our construction projects are completed on time and within budget. This position requires at least 3 years of experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies in the construction industry.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks.
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
  • Manage and control all the company’s external suppliers with particular emphasis on the purchase of materials and finished parts for production.
  • Ensure parts and materials are bought at the most competitive price and delivered on time for production.
  • Regularly review vendor performance to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.

Qualifications

  • Proven working experience as a home builder with a focus on purchasing management for 3+ years.
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
  • Interest in market dynamics along with a business sense.
  • A knack for negotiation and networking.
  • Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures.
  • Solid judgement with the ability to make good decisions.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing management software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration.
  • Professional certification in supply chain management or procurement is a plus.
