Consultant General Surgeon Physician FT

• Perform surgical operations
• Perform minor surgical procedures
• Assist in surgery
• Provide professional medical advice/feedback
• Provide patient education
• Procure and manage medical equipment
• Administer medications
• Oversee patient care
• Evaluate and supervise staff
  

General Surgeon Responsibilities

• Perform general and vascular surgery, as well as obstetrics and gynecology surgery, including laparoscopy
• Perform minor surgical procedures, including laceration repair, skin biopsies, electrocautery, and wart treatment; remove foreign bodies and place sutures
• Carry out diagnostic testing, including diagnostic and minor imaging, electrocardiograms, and echocardiograms
• Perform endoscopy procedures, including flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy
• Recover and treat trauma patients, including evaluating patients, administering medications, and performing chest compressions
• Perform emergency surgery, including cholecystectomy and hernia repair
• Perform nonsurgical procedures, including colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, and Pap smear
  

Requirements And Skills

• Proven experience in a general surgery role
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to develop and maintain financial systems
• Ability to motivate and lead people, and hold employees accountable
• Strong working knowledge of operational procedures
• Knowledge of Medicare reimbursement, managed care, and insurance issues
