Job Details
Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing the purchasing strategy in order to meet the
business needs.
- Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value,
delivery schedules and quality.
- Ensure all projects are within budget, time schedule and standards.
- Develop relationships with outside suppliers
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure that all phases of operation are properly
planned and executed in conjunction with the purchasing department.
- Serve as liaison between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and
customers (as needed).
- Negotiate contracts and monitor the progress of suppliers to ensure their quality of
service and products
- Develop forecasts on price trends and their impact on future activities.
- Ensure that all purchasing activities are carried out with the highest level of ethics and
supplier relations devoid of any practices which could be deemed questionable
business conduct.
- Direct the work of the department staff.
- Prepare departmental budget.
Qualifications
- BS in supply chain management, purchasing, business, or other related
discipline.
- 7-10 years progressive purchasing experience in manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to establish internal and external key relationships.
- Experience in negotiating, drafting, and reviewing contract terms and conditions.
- Must be able to handle multiple projects.
- Experience with MAPCIS and AS400 system, preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
