If you are great at admin and love cats, this could be your purrfect job!

We are helping an animal charity to recruit a permanent part-time member of staff in Barrow-in-Furness. You will be working 20 hours per week.

The main purpose of your role will be to work with and support the Charity Manager to ensure the smooth and effective running of the charity operations. This includes a Cattery and two Retail Shops.

Your new job / responsibilities

Assist the Charity Manager with:

  • All day-to-day administration
  • Recruitment and training of staff and volunteers for the cattery and two retail shops.
  • Running of the cattery and two retail shops
  • Liaison with company accountant and solicitor about personnel and HR issues.
  • Organisation of Trustees meetings, AGMs, EGMs etc, production of Agendas attend where required and take and type minutes.
  • General administration duties, including typing, checking and responding to emails and filing.
  • Ensuring accurate paper and electronic records are kept.
  • Maintenance of financial records, paying suppliers, compiling monthly paperwork and delivering to the accountant for processing.
  • Submitting wage details to accountant for preparation, banking of income and donations, controlling petty cash records.
  • Compilation of monthly income and expenditure figures.
  • Managing and controlling the distribution of vouchers and payments for veterinary care to members of the public.
  • Ordering of supplies for cattery, retail shops and office.
  • Funding applications and fundraising activities.

  • Experience of office practices, systems and procedures.
  • Compliant and process driven.
  • Organised and able to prioritise.
  • A love of cats would be a huge bonus.

Benefits


Salary and benefits

  • The pay is currently 11.13 per hour.
  • Permanent staff part time position (20 hours per week) days and hours to be agreed.
  • 28 days holiday per year (pro-rata).

Please note whilst this is a paid permanent staff position, the charity does require that their employees also agree to volunteer with them. This voluntary work is not compulsory and is entirely separate from the paid employment. As an organisation with limited funds, they do rely heavily on volunteers. However, if you are not able to offer voluntary work, this will not affect the paid position. Your two roles paid employee and volunteer would be kept separate.
