Draughtsman

Job Summary:

As a Draughtsman in the renewable energy sector specifically focused on solar energy your primary responsibility will be to create detailed technical drawings and specifications for solar power systems. You will work closely with engineers project managers and other stakeholders to develop accurate and comprehensive drawings that adhere to industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting and Design: Produce detailed technical drawings plans and schematics for solar energy projects including site plans elevation drawings electrical diagrams and equipment layouts using computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Project Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers architects and project managers to understand project requirements and incorporate them into the drawings ensuring compliance with design standards safety regulations and client specifications.

Documentation and Records: Maintain accurate records and documentation of all drawings revisions and changes throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure drawings are properly archived and organized for future reference.

Design Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency cost-effectiveness and performance of solar power systems through innovative design solutions and integration of the latest technology advancements.

Quality Control: Review and check drawings for accuracy completeness and adherence to design standards. Collaborate with the project team to resolve any design conflicts or discrepancies.

Compliance and Standards: Stay updated with the latest industry standards codes and regulations related to solar energy systems and ensure all drawings and designs comply with the applicable requirements.

Collaboration and Communication: Effectively communicate and coordinate with cross-functional teams including engineers architects technicians and contractors to address design-related issues and ensure smooth project execution.

Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities to enhance professional knowledge and skills related to solar energy design and drafting techniques. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in drafting engineering or related field is preferred.

Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD SolidWorks or similar tools.

Strong technical drawing skills and ability to create accurate detailed and dimensioned drawings.

Familiarity with solar energy systems photovoltaic (PV) panels inverters and related components.

Knowledge of industry standards and codes relevant to solar energy systems such as NEC IEC or local regulations.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve design conflicts.

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team and across departments.

Ability to prioritize tasks meet deadlines and adapt to changing project requirements.

Familiarity with construction and project management processes is advantageous.
