Roles and responsibilities
- Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
- Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
- Identifies discrepancies in results.
- Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
Strong infrastructure engineering background with previous experience on infrastructure projects Understanding of the requirements for primary substations, HV corridor, distribution substations, pocket substations, feeder pillars and service tunnels, MV up to 33kV, LV networks.
Full understanding of dry utilities and infrastructure projects from Concept to IFC stage.
Understanding from Concept master plan stage to Detailed Master Plan in terms of utility corridor space proofing, Right Of Way, coordination with other discipline such as wet utilities, roads, transportation, landscape etc.
Experience of carrying out calculations for all dry utilities networks and report writing skills.
Experience of Telecommunication infrastructure Network Design including ducts, manholes and knowledge of GSM tower coverage.
Design of Street Lighting for all type of roads, ROW, Lighting Calculations, SLDs, Load schedules, landscape lighting branch wiring etc.,
Work towards digitization of design, innovations, and improvements to manage workload and accomplish deliverables across multiple projects.
Design of electrical systems using Civil3D.
In-depth and strong understanding of UAE/ KSA authority Guidelines is a must.
Desired candidate profile
1. Electrical Design Expertise
- System Design: Ability to design electrical systems for buildings, industrial plants, and infrastructure projects. This includes power distribution systems, lighting, fire alarms, communication networks, and security systems.
- Load Calculations: Performing load calculations to determine the capacity of electrical systems and ensure that they meet the demands of the project.
- Circuit Design: Designing electrical circuits and ensuring proper functionality, reliability, and efficiency of the system.
- Power Distribution: Expertise in the design of power distribution networks, transformers, switchgear, and other critical electrical equipment.
- Control Systems Design: Design and integration of control systems, including SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), for automation and monitoring.
2. Technical Proficiency
- Electrical CAD Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, Dialux, EPLAN, or other electrical design software for drafting and modeling electrical systems.
- Simulation and Analysis Tools: Experience with electrical simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink) for testing and optimizing designs under various operating conditions.
- Circuit Protection: Knowledge of circuit protection devices such as fuses, circuit breakers, and overload relays to ensure the safety and reliability of electrical systems.
- Standards and Codes: Familiarity with national and international electrical codes and standards, such as NEC (National Electrical Code), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), and BS 7671 for electrical installations.
3. Project Management and Coordination
- Project Planning: Ability to assist in project planning, including resource allocation, scheduling, and managing deadlines to ensure that designs are completed on time and within budget.
- Team Collaboration: Working closely with other engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to ensure that electrical designs align with the overall project requirements.
- Budgeting: Experience in estimating project costs, preparing budgets for electrical systems, and ensuring that designs are cost-effective while meeting all technical requirements.
4. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting
- Troubleshooting: Ability to identify issues within electrical systems and offer solutions to ensure functionality and safety.
- Innovative Solutions: Developing creative solutions to meet the unique requirements of each project while addressing challenges such as space constraints, budget limitations, or energy efficiency.
