Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Ability to manage/lead a design and approval process interfacing with the project team, Clients and Stakeholders.
  • In-depth and strong understanding of KSA Authority guidelines is a must.
  • Lead the design from Data collection, validation, identify design gaps,
  • Prepare concept master plan stage to Detailed Master Plan in terms of utility corridor space proofing, ROW, coordination with wet, roads, transportation, landscape, and building teams.
  • Full understanding of dry and wet utilities and infrastructure projects from Concept to IFC stage
  • Strong infrastructure engineering background with previous experience on infrastructure projects
  • Thorough experience in power system such as grid stations, primary substation requirements, allocating HV corridor. Understanding of 132/220/400 KV overhead and underground lines, relocation, and protection requirements of dry utilities including power, telecom, and lighting
  • Design/Review of Street Lighting for all type of roads, ROW, Lighting Calculations, SLDs, Load schedules, landscape lighting branch wiring etc.,
  • In depth understanding of design and modelling works for wet utilities including potable water supply, firefighting, wastewater and irrigation infrastructure projects.
  • Review the technical deliverables as per local authority and town planning
  • department requirements for each dry services
  • Attend Client design meetings, kick off meetings, progress meetings, workshops, prepare presentation and lead utilities design as front end when required,
  • Able to work on multiple bids and proposals and assist the team lead and disciplines lead in terms of pricing, methodology and options
  • Excellent knowledge and focus towards to Quality of design, review and take ownership of the deliverables produced and ensure the design safety is followed in all projects including identifying risks, mitigation, and design assumptions registers update


Minimum Requirements

  • 15 years of experience in utilities sector covering both wet and dry utilities. Minimum 10 years in design.
  • Construction Supervision and Building projects are not preferred


Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelors' Degree in relevant Engineering,
  • Preferably Master’s degree in relevant discipline.
  • Chartered Professional (C.Eng.) and holding professional license/certification from the international recognised bodies



Desired candidate profile

1. Technical Expertise in Electrical Engineering

  • Power Systems Design: Extensive knowledge of designing power distribution systems, including generators, transformers, circuit breakers, and electrical panels.
  • Electrical Load Analysis: Ability to perform detailed load calculations for electrical systems, ensuring that the systems are properly sized and capable of handling the required loads safely.
  • Control Systems: Experience in designing and implementing control systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLC), motor control systems, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
  • Electrical Distribution: Expertise in low-voltage and high-voltage electrical distribution systems, ensuring their efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Safety Standards and Regulations: Thorough understanding of electrical safety codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE) and the ability to ensure compliance in all designs and operations.
  • Renewable Energy Systems: Knowledge of renewable energy systems, such as solar, wind, and battery storage systems, and their integration into the electrical grid or standalone power systems.

2. Project Management

  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills to lead and mentor engineering teams, ensuring that project objectives are met and that the engineering team works collaboratively and efficiently.
  • Project Planning and Execution: Ability to plan, schedule, and oversee electrical engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and technical specifications.
  • Risk Management: Identifying, analyzing, and mitigating potential risks related to electrical systems, ensuring that safety, reliability, and efficiency are prioritized.
  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Experience with budgeting for electrical projects, including material costs, labor, and other resources, and ensuring that projects are completed within financial constraints.

3. Design and System Analysis

  • CAD and Simulation Software: Proficiency in electrical design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, MATLAB, or PowerWorld) to create detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and simulations.
  • Circuit Design and Schematic Development: Ability to design and analyze electrical circuits, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Fault Analysis: Conducting fault current analysis and protection coordination to ensure safe operation of electrical systems under fault conditions.
  • Load Flow and Stability Analysis: Understanding and performing load flow, short-circuit, and stability analysis to ensure proper operation and optimization of electrical systems.
