Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Support senior supervisor for Installation of Low/Medium Voltage Switchgear (AIS / GIS) in power plants and substations (Utilities, O&G and Industrial market)
  • Preparation of Method Statement, NCR reports , Incident and RCA reports
  • Support senior supervisor Operation & Maintenance of Switchgears
  • Handling of SF6 gas and thorough understanding of related equipment
  • Report to Sr. Installation Engr. To manage the pre-requisite of Switchgear installation
  • Preparation and submission of daily reports
  • Follow HSE principles and guidelines, show responsibility at site by adhering to HSE of main contractor

Your Qualifications And Skills – Digital And Solid!

  • Diploma / Apprenticeship or BE / BTECH - Electrical
  • 5- 10 years of experience working working with MV Switchgear products

Experience conducting Installation and Commissioning activities

  • 1. Technical Knowledge

  • Engineering Expertise: Strong understanding of engineering principles and the technical specifications required for the installation of systems or equipment. This could include mechanical, electrical, or software-related knowledge.
  • Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with the specific systems being installed (e.g., HVAC, electrical control systems, automation systems, machinery) and how they function.
  • Blueprint/Diagram Reading: Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and system diagrams to ensure accurate installations.
  • 2. Problem-Solving

  • Troubleshooting Skills: The ability to diagnose problems and implement solutions quickly, ensuring minimal disruption to the installation process.
  • Creative Thinking: Finding innovative solutions to unexpected problems on-site, such as layout issues or unplanned delays.
  • 3. Project Management

  • Time Management: Efficiently managing time to meet installation deadlines and client expectations, while balancing multiple installations or tasks.
  • Resource Management: Ensuring that all necessary tools, equipment, and personnel are available and ready for the installation.
  • 4. Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Client Communication: Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to clients, ensuring they understand what is being installed and how to use the system afterward.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinating with different teams (project managers, engineers, technicians, etc.) to ensure smooth and timely installations.
  • Documentation: Providing clear and comprehensive reports, manuals, and instructions for both clients and internal teams.

Planning and Preparation

  • Installation Planning: Reviewing project requirements, technical specifications, and client needs to plan the installation process. This includes preparing resources, schedules, and confirming that all equipment and parts are available.
  • Site Preparation: Conducting site assessments before installation to ensure that the site is ready for installation, checking for any potential challenges such as space issues or required permits.

2. Installation and Setup

  • Equipment Installation: Installing equipment or systems based on technical drawings, specifications, and standards. This could include electrical wiring, machinery, HVAC systems, or software systems.
  • System Configuration: Configuring the systems to ensure they are set up according to the project’s specifications and requirements. This could involve calibrating machinery, setting parameters, or inputting software settings.
  • Testing and Commissioning: Testing equipment or systems after installation to ensure they function properly. This could include running diagnostic checks or making adjustments as needed to meet operational standards.
  • Troubleshooting: Identifying and fixing any issues that arise during the installation process, such as system malfunctions or equipment errors.

3. Documentation and Reporting

  • Installation Reports: Documenting the installation process, including any issues encountered, solutions provided, and the final system setup. This may also involve keeping track of any changes made from the original plan.
  • Client Sign-Off: Obtaining client sign-off upon successful installation and ensuring that the client is satisfied with the work completed.
  • Maintenance Documentation: Providing clients with manuals or guides for equipment use and maintenance. Ensuring that all necessary certifications, warranties, and installation documents are completed.

4. Client Interaction and Support

  • Client Communication: Communicating with clients during the installation process, explaining technical aspects, managing expectations, and addressing any concerns they may have.
  • Training: Training clients or operators on how to use the newly installed systems or equipment, ensuring they understand maintenance needs and operational procedures.
  • Post-Installation Support: Offering ongoing support after installation, such as troubleshooting, performing maintenance, or answering any questions the client may have.

5. Quality Control and Safety Compliance

  • Safety Standards: Ensuring all installations are done following industry safety standards and regulations, such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) or local safety laws. This includes performing safety checks on machinery or equipment.
  • Quality Assurance: Conducting thorough quality checks during and after installation to ensure that the system is working as intended and meets required specifications.
  • Compliance: Ensuring the installation complies with any legal, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., electrical codes, environmental regulations).
