Roles and responsibilities
As Laundry Supervisor, your main responsibilities will be to ensure that all Guests and Crew linen, towels, personal clothing and uniforms as well as all table cloths and serviettes are cleaned and well maintained.
- Supervise and establish regular work schedules for all laundry staff and assist the housekeeping manager in giving performance appraisals to the laundry staff.
- Main Laundry and equipment is cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis and scheduled wash downs during regular intervals.
- Correct cleaning materials and correct methods are used.
Establish a closed network of communication to inform the department on all pertinent matters affecting guest service, the team, and hotel operations.

Previous experience in a similar role required, supervisory experience in managing guest expectations by driving the team performance. Excellent English communication and tracking skills required.

- Supervising laundry staff and delegating tasks based on priority and staff capabilities.
- Monitoring the laundry process, including sorting, washing, drying, pressing, and folding laundry items.
- Managing inventory and ensuring that cleaning supplies are stocked and properly stored.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the laundry area and equipment.
- Addressing any issues with laundry quality, equipment malfunction, or team performance.
- Ensuring the safe handling and proper use of laundry chemicals and equipment.
- Handling guest laundry requests and addressing any customer complaints.
- Generating reports on the performance of the laundry department and making improvements where necessary.
Desired candidate profile
1. Laundry Operations Knowledge
- Expertise in laundry processes, including washing, drying, folding, and ironing.
- Knowledge of different fabric types and how to treat them appropriately to avoid damage.
- Familiarity with laundry equipment, such as industrial washers, dryers, and steam irons, and ensuring proper usage and maintenance.
2. Team Management and Leadership
- Supervising and managing a team of laundry attendants, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Delegating tasks effectively and ensuring that team members adhere to standards of cleanliness, efficiency, and safety.
- Motivating and encouraging staff to maintain high performance and maintain a positive working environment.
3. Quality Control
- Ensuring that laundry items, such as linens, towels, uniforms, and guest clothing, are cleaned, pressed, and stored according to set standards.
- Performing regular quality checks to make sure that laundry is done to a high standard and free of defects, stains, or damage.
- Addressing any discrepancies or issues with laundry quality and taking corrective actions as needed.
4. Inventory Management
- Managing inventory of laundry supplies, such as detergents, fabric softeners, and other cleaning agents.
- Keeping track of laundry materials and ensuring that there is always an adequate supply for daily operations.
- Reporting low stock levels or any issues with supplies to the appropriate department for replenishment.
5. Health, Safety, and Hygiene Awareness
- Ensuring that all laundry operations are conducted following health and safety regulations and hygiene standards.
- Overseeing the safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Enforcing safe working practices among laundry staff to prevent accidents or injuries.
6. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting
- Identifying any operational issues, such as equipment malfunctions, delays in laundry processes, or issues with staff performance.
- Quickly resolving problems and ensuring that laundry tasks are completed on time.
- Handling customer complaints about laundry services, such as lost items or damaged clothing, and finding solutions to resolve the issue.
