Roles and responsibilities
You will be an engaging, courteous Barista who is passionate about food and beverage preparation and education. You will greet customers, answer their questions, take orders and accept payments, and prepare and serve food and drinks. Maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace and dining area, update displays, and continuously expand your knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation.
To succeed as a barista, you should be committed to providing customers with excellent service. At all times you must be representative of the qualities of delivering Holiday Inn service standards. To provide warm, welcoming service without compromise to all guests.

Previous experience in similar role preferred. Alcohol awareness and handling and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card, as required by local law. Trainings in Food & Beverage preparations, High school certificate or diploma. Fluency in English is a must, additional languages are an added advantage. Strong ability to build and maintain relationships.

1. Coffee Preparation Expertise
- Knowledge of different coffee brewing methods, including espresso, pour-over, French press, and cold brew.
- Mastery of operating espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee-making equipment.
- Ability to create a variety of coffee beverages, such as lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, and mochas, while ensuring high-quality consistency.
2. Customer Service Skills
- Friendly and approachable demeanor when interacting with customers.
- Providing excellent customer service by remembering regular customers' preferences and engaging in friendly conversation.
- Addressing customer complaints or requests in a professional and courteous manner.
- Helping customers choose from the menu and offering recommendations based on their preferences.
3. Attention to Detail
- Ensuring drinks are prepared according to customer specifications, paying close attention to taste, temperature, and presentation.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization at the coffee station and throughout the café.
- Adjusting drink recipes and quantities based on customer feedback or special requests.
4. Knowledge of Coffee Beans and Flavors
- Understanding the differences between coffee beans, roast types, and origins to provide informed recommendations.
- Recognizing the importance of grind size, water temperature, and extraction time for brewing optimal coffee.
- Being knowledgeable about the flavor profiles of different coffee beans and how they impact the taste of beverages.
5. Multi-tasking and Efficiency
- Ability to handle multiple orders at once in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak hours.
- Maintaining a quick and efficient workflow while ensuring quality and consistency in every drink.
- Organizing workstations and keeping them stocked to avoid delays in service.
6. Cash Handling and POS System
- Operating the point-of-sale (POS) system to process customer orders and payments accurately.
- Handling cash transactions, including giving correct change and processing credit/debit card payments.
- Managing customer tabs and ensuring that all orders are accurately recorded and served.
