Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Consulting with patients to understand their symptoms and health concerns.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients with neurological conditions, review medical histories, and perform comprehensive
  • physical examinations to determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Perform complex neurosurgical procedures, including brain and spinal surgeries, tumor resections, aneurysm repair, spine.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including neurologists, radiologists, oncologists, and other specialists, to develop.
  • Provide diligent postoperative care, monitor patients' progress, and manage potential complications to ensure optimal
  • Providing support and advice to patients receiving long-term care.
  • Conducting research into the testing and development of new medications and methods of treatment.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
  • Valid and active medical license.
  • Excellent communicator who can empathize with patients.
  • Extensive Knowledge of Neuroscience and Anatomy

    • Deep understanding of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system, including the structure, function, and pathology of these systems.
    • Expertise in neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and the understanding of neurological disorders such as stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, brain tumors, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
  • Advanced Surgical Skills

    • Mastery in performing delicate and complex surgeries involving the brain, spine, and nervous system, such as craniotomies, spinal fusions, tumor resections, aneurysm repairs, and deep brain stimulation (DBS).
    • Expertise in minimally invasive techniques, including endoscopic surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery (e.g., Gamma Knife), and robotic-assisted surgery.
  • Diagnostic Expertise

    • Ability to diagnose neurological conditions using advanced imaging technologies such as MRI, CT scans, angiography, and electroencephalography (EEG).
    • Proficiency in interpreting neuroimaging results to plan surgical interventions and understand disease progression.
  • Management of Neurological Disorders

    • Expertise in treating a wide range of neurological disorders, such as brain tumors, aneurysms, stroke, spinal deformities, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and cerebral palsy.
    • Skilled in non-surgical management for certain neurological conditions, including medications, rehabilitation, and monitoring of degenerative diseases.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration

    • Ability to work closely with neurologists, oncologists, radiologists, rehabilitation specialists, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
    • Coordination with other medical professionals in the management of conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, and neuro-oncological diseases.
  • Patient Education and Communication

    • Strong communication skills to explain complex neurological conditions, surgical procedures, and post-operative care to patients and their families.
    • Ability to provide emotional support to patients and families dealing with critical or life-threatening neurological conditions.
  • Pain Management

    • Expertise in managing post-surgical pain, including the use of opioid analgesics, nerve blocks, and spinal cord stimulators.
    • Knowledge of non-surgical methods of pain relief, such as physical therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Desired candidate profile

  • Diagnosing Neurological Conditions

    • Assessing patients' neurological symptoms and performing diagnostic tests, including physical exams, imaging, and electrodiagnostic studies.
    • Diagnosing conditions such as brain tumors, spinal cord injuries, epilepsy, stroke, neurodegenerative diseases, and hydrocephalus.
  • Performing Neurosurgical Procedures

    • Conducting brain, spine, and nervous system surgeries, including tumor removal, aneurysm clipping, spinal fusion, spinal cord decompression, and epilepsy surgery.
    • Performing minimally invasive procedures using endoscopic techniques and advanced technologies to reduce recovery time and complications.
  • Managing Neurological Emergencies

    • Treating trauma patients with head and spinal injuries, performing surgeries to stabilize their condition, and managing recovery and rehabilitation.
    • Providing acute care for conditions such as acute spinal cord injury, intracranial hemorrhage, and status epilepticus.
  • Post-Operative Care and Rehabilitation

    • Overseeing post-surgical recovery, including monitoring for complications such as infection, hemorrhage, and nerve damage.
    • Developing rehabilitation plans to help patients regain motor function, cognition, and quality of life after surgery.
  • Non-Surgical Management

    • Providing non-surgical treatments for conditions like chronic back pain, spinal disc herniation, headaches, and cerebrovascular disease.
    • Prescribing medication, physical therapy, and other interventions for managing chronic neurological conditions.
  • Patient Counseling and Education

    • Explaining diagnoses and treatment options to patients and their families, addressing concerns about the risks and benefits of surgical procedures.
    • Providing support and advice on lifestyle changes, long-term management, and coping strategies for chronic neurological conditions.
  • Research and Clinical Trials

    • Conducting research to advance the understanding and treatment of neurological diseases and disorders.
    • Participating in or leading clinical trials aimed at testing new surgical techniques, therapies, or medications.
  • Collaboration with Other Specialists

    • Collaborating with neurologists, oncologists, radiologists, pain management specialists, and rehabilitation professionals to provide integrated care for patients with neurological conditions.
    • Referring patients to other specialists when necessary for comprehensive care.
