As a Laundry Technician you are responsible for the maintenance of all kinds of laundry equipments and ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes, whereby your role will include key responsibilities such as-
- Perform general repair and maintenance duties in regard to laundry plumbing and electrical systems
- Do elementary painting and finishing of furniture and structure
- Check electrical system such as refrigeration controls, television sets and lighting systems and make minor repairs
- Check and make minor repairs on general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipelines, toilets and sinks
- Perform basic maintenance and repair of laundry equipment using manuals and their past history
- Re-issue and exchange worn-out clothing
- Maintain security measures by counting and making rounds through the laundry on a periodic basis
- Ensure that no ironing or starching is done on unauthorized clothing
- Ensure that the proper amount of cleaned clothing is returned to the delivering officer
- Ensure that the building, as well as the outside area designated for laundry, is kept clean and secure
Skills
Education, Qualifications & Experiences
You should ideally be having a technical background with sound experiences in the use of industrial machinery. You should be able to work under policies and regulations and must be in good physical condition. A good command of English and the ability to find fault and rectify systems are essentials.

- Operating washing machines, dryers, steam presses, and other laundry machinery.
- Ensuring that all machines are functioning properly and performing routine maintenance or troubleshooting minor issues.
- Reporting any major malfunctions or repairs needed to supervisors or technicians.

Laundry Sorting:
- Sorting laundry items by type (e.g., linens, towels, uniforms) and fabric (e.g., cotton, polyester) to ensure proper washing techniques and avoid damage.
- Ensuring the correct detergents and cleaning agents are used for different types of fabrics.

Washing and Drying:
- Selecting the appropriate wash cycle based on the fabric type and soiling level of items.
- Monitoring the washing and drying processes to ensure laundry is thoroughly cleaned and dried without overloading machines or causing damage.
- Using stain removal techniques and ensuring that items are returned in a pristine, usable condition.

Folding and Packaging:
- Folding clean linens, towels, or garments neatly and ensuring they meet quality standards before they are sent to their designated areas (e.g., hotel rooms, hospital wards).
- Packaging or rolling items for delivery, ensuring items are organized and in good condition for the end user.

Inventory and Stock Control:
- Keeping track of linen inventory levels and ensuring that items are regularly checked for wear and tear.
- Reporting damaged or worn items to management for replacement and ensuring stock levels are adequate to meet operational demands.
- Ensuring that washing supplies, such as detergents, fabric softeners, and other chemicals, are properly stored and used efficiently.

- Keeping the laundry room and work areas clean and organized.
- Ensuring that laundry carts, baskets, and other tools are sanitized and ready for use.
- Adhering to health and safety standards regarding the handling of laundry, chemicals, and cleaning products.

- Responding to special requests or urgent laundry needs, ensuring that specific linens or garments are cleaned and delivered promptly.
- Providing assistance to guests or other departments if additional laundry services are required.
