Roles and responsibilities
Lead the Energy Management ‘concepts, framework, and knowledge among all company assets, operations and facilities in all regions, to ensure proper practices and desired awareness in line with Energy Management System, ISO 50001, ADNOC COP, and international standards and best practices.As Energy Technical Authority, provide with expert services; advise on energy-related areas within design, construction and commissioning and operations for the current or proposed development, expansion and modification, remodeling and new equipment purchase
Key Accountabilities
- Collect and analyze data on fuel consumption, energy use, and emissions to generate actionable insights and recommendations for improvement and compliance, enhancing decision-making processes.
- Prepare and publish reports on compliance status, emission levels, and energy performance using effective tools like Power BI and Tableau to improve the accuracy and ease of reporting.
- Conduct regular audits of fleet and department documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Engage with key stakeholders, including safety, operations, and commercial teams, to communicate and promote energy efficiency initiatives.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, classification societies, and industry stakeholders to ensure alignment with current standards and foster continuous improvement.
Job Specific Accountabilities1
- Act as a point of contact for communication and reporting to regulatory bodies, ensuring clear communication and timely submission of required documentation.
- Provide strategic advice to the energy management department, backed with data-driven measures for continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor and predict regulatory changes, staying informed about new and evolving regulations from bodies like the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and other relevant authorities.
- Conduct regular regulatory assessments to identify gaps and implement measures to ensure the organization is prepared to comply with new and evolving regulations.
- Evaluate the regulatory impact on operational aspects and provide strategic advice to meet standards such as the Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII).
- Ensure a cohesive approach to compliance planning by developing detailed plans and timelines for necessary changes to meet new regulations specific to each port, such as EU and UK MRV.
Job Specific Accountabilities2
- Manage the verification and reporting of emissions data to relevant authorities, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with geographic-specific requirements.
- Oversee the entire document lifecycle, ensuring all records are current, accurate, complete, and easily accessible to the audit team.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate relevant personnel on new regulations, energy efficiency practices, and compliance requirements.
- Develop educational materials and tailor training programs to the specific needs of different roles, promoting knowledge sharing within the team and across the organization.
- Represent the organization at industry forums, conferences, and meetings related to energy optimization and management, building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Provide support for ad-hoc tasks and assist the Team Leader in coordinating the operational activities of the Energy Efficiency & Optimization department.
Desired candidate profile
- Bachelor’s Degree: Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Preferred: Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s) in a relevant discipline such as Marine Engineering, Energy Management, or Environmental Science.
- Relevant Shipping Operations practices and optimization.
- Developing energy balances and energy efficiency calculations for various types of processes, ships,and fuels.
- Energy Management Systems and understanding of applicable requirements and standards.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient technologies.
- Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
- Advanced skills in Power PI and Microsoft Excel for energy performance monitoring, analyses, and verification.
- 5 years in energy management, with significant advisory experience in the maritime industry. Proven expertise in providing strategic advice and leading energy optimization initiatives.

- Regulatory Expertise: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement long-term energy optimization plans. Experience with regulatory compliance and risk management in the maritime industry. Strategic advisory roles and managing stakeholder relationships.

- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and regulations. Proficiency in using data analytics tools to drive decision-making.
- Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. Effective presentation skills and the ability to write detailed technical reports.
- Proficiency: Proficiency in energy management software and tools. Familiarity with data analytics and project management tools.
