Roles and responsibilities
A Civil Designer plays a crucial role in the planning and design of infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, drainage systems, and utilities. This role involves producing detailed design drawings, models, and plans to ensure that projects meet functional, safety, regulatory, and environmental standards. Civil designers work closely with civil engineers, project managers, and construction teams to bring designs to life and ensure the feasibility and efficiency of infrastructure systems.
Key Responsibilities

Design Creation and Drafting
- Create and modify civil engineering designs, plans, and drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation).
- Develop site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management systems, road alignments, and utility systems.
- Produce detailed drawings for construction, including sections, elevations, and layout plans.

Collaboration with Engineers and Project Teams
- Work closely with civil engineers, surveyors, and other design professionals to ensure accurate and coordinated designs.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input on technical details.
- Ensure that designs align with client requirements, local codes, and safety standards.

Site Planning and Analysis
- Assist in the evaluation of site conditions, including topography, soil composition, and environmental factors.
- Analyze site data to inform decisions on grading, drainage, and utility placement.
- Help develop solutions for site-specific challenges such as flooding, erosion, or soil instability.

Compliance with Regulations
- Ensure that designs comply with local zoning laws, building codes, environmental regulations, and other relevant standards.
- Assist in preparing documentation for permits, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory reviews.

Design Optimization
- Propose improvements to optimize design efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance sustainability.
- Incorporate eco-friendly design principles, such as stormwater management and energy-efficient systems, where possible.
- Evaluate and recommend alternative materials or methods to improve project outcomes.

We are currently looking for Civil Designer to be based in Abu Dhabi location.
Main Purpose Of Role
Core Designer Role to produce the volume of Design Drawings on projects and within the business as required.
Qualifications
Engineering Diploma (Preferable)
Essential
Knowledge / Experience (Skills):
- 7 - 12 years of Oil & Gas Design Experience.
Advantage
Previous experience in Region
Technical Knowledge And Skills (Discipline Specific)
- Knowledge of basic engineering processes
- Familiarity with international codes, standards and engineering practices
- Thorough knowledge of onshore design engineering for the oil, gas and water field.
- Knowledge of 2D CAD applications
- Knowledge of ESD is an added advantage
- Familiarity with CTB & different client protocols
- Detailing of reinforcement and connection detailing
