Bar Attendant

Roles and responsibilities

1. Drink Preparation and Service:

   • Prepare and Serve Beverages: Mix, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, ensuring that they are prepared according to customer preferences and standard recipes.
   • Knowledge of Drinks: Stay knowledgeable about various types of alcohol, cocktail recipes, and current trends in beverages to provide informed recommendations to customers.
   • Specialty Drinks: Create signature cocktails or customized drinks based on customer preferences.

2. Customer Service:

   • Engage with Customers: Greet customers, take drink orders, and provide a friendly and engaging atmosphere to encourage repeat business.
   • Handle Requests: Respond to customer requests in a timely manner, ensuring they are satisfied with their drinks and service.
   • Suggestive Selling: Recommend drinks, upsell items (e.g., snacks, premium liquors), and engage customers to enhance their experience.

3. Bar Maintenance and Cleanliness:

   • Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the bar area clean and organized at all times, including wiping down surfaces, cleaning glassware, and maintaining the inventory of bar tools and supplies.
   • Stock and Inventory: Monitor inventory levels of alcohol, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and other bar essentials. Restock items as needed and report low stock to management.
   • Glassware and Equipment Care: Ensure glassware is polished, and bar tools (e.g., shakers, strainers) are clean and in good working condition.

4. Cash Handling and Transactions:

   • Process Payments: Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately, issue receipts, and provide correct change. In some cases, a bar attendant may also be responsible for maintaining a cash drawer or till.
   • Close Tabs: Keep track of customer tabs and ensure that all orders are charged appropriately before customers leave.
   • Tipping: Ensure that tips are handled properly, including splitting tips with other staff as per the establishment's policy.

5. Compliance with Legal and Safety Regulations:

   • ID Checking: Verify the age of customers to ensure they are legally allowed to consume alcohol, following local regulations and company policies.
   • Responsible Service: Monitor alcohol consumption and ensure that customers are not over-served, as well as recognizing signs of intoxication.
   • Health and Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper sanitation, alcohol handling, and serving procedures.

6. Assisting with Event Setup:

   • Set Up Bar for Service: Prepare the bar for service by organizing bottles, glasses, napkins, and garnishes. Ensure that everything is ready for busy service times.
   • Support During Events: For special events, parties, or large groups, help set up for themed nights, provide customized drink options, and ensure smooth service.

7. Teamwork and Communication:

   • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with other bar staff, servers, and management to ensure smooth operations, especially during busy periods.
   • Maintain Professionalism: Interact with colleagues and customers professionally, fostering a positive and cooperative work environment.

Desired candidate profile

As a Bar Attendant at En Fuego, you will be responsible for managing multiple beverage orders within bustling environment. You will have full knowledge of the Bar Menu whilst showcasing the ability to give detailed descriptions of signature cocktails, anything from ice cold beer or a selection of some of the very best wines we have from around the world. You will be upselling beverage items, ensuring you always anticipate the needs of the guest and working closely with both bar and service teams, ensuring that sanitation and safety standards are always followed and maintained

About You

The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in a similar role with proven track record of working in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills, be a team player, can manage multiple tasks and have the confidence in dealing with a diverse set of individuals.
