Roles and responsibilities

Senior Draftsman to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans for architectural, engineering, and construction projects. This role involves interpreting design concepts and translating them into precise technical drawings, coordinating with other professionals, and ensuring that all drawings adhere to industry standards and project specifications. The Senior Draftsman plays a key role in the design and development process, contributing to the successful execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Drawing Creation: Produce detailed and accurate technical drawings, plans, and blueprints using computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.

Design Interpretation: Work closely with architects, engineers, and designers to understand design concepts and translate them into technical drawings that meet project requirements.

Quality Control: Review and verify the accuracy of drawings and specifications, ensuring they meet industry standards, client expectations, and project specifications.

Revisions & Updates: Make necessary revisions to drawings based on feedback from engineers, architects, or project managers. Ensure that all changes are accurately documented and communicated.

Coordination: Collaborate with other draftsmen, architects, and engineers to ensure consistency across all drawings and documents. Coordinate with project teams to resolve any discrepancies or issues.

Material & Specification Detailing: Provide detailed information on materials, dimensions, and construction methods to ensure that the drawings can be effectively used in the construction process.

Document Management: Maintain organized records of all drawings, revisions, and related documents. Ensure that all files are properly stored and accessible for future reference.

Mentorship & Training: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior draftsmen, helping them develop their technical skills and understanding of industry standards.

Compliance: Ensure that all drawings comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.

Qualifications:

Education: Diploma or degree in Drafting, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 7-8 years of experience in drafting, with a strong background in [insert relevant industry, e.g., architectural, structural, mechanical].

Technical Skills: Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and other relevant design tools. Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and materials.

1. Technical Drawing and Design Skills

• Blueprint Creation: Proficient in creating detailed technical drawings, plans, and diagrams for various projects, ensuring they meet industry standards and client specifications.
• CAD Software Expertise: Advanced knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or MicroStation for creating 2D and 3D models.
• 3D Modeling: Ability to create three-dimensional models and visualizations of structures, machinery, or products to help stakeholders understand the design more clearly.
• Design Drafting: Ability to create designs for construction, machinery, electrical systems, or other engineering needs, ensuring they are technically sound and functional.

2. Attention to Detail

• Precision: Ensuring that all drawings are accurate, with precise measurements, dimensions, and materials specified, as these drawings are often used for construction or manufacturing.
• Error Identification: Reviewing and revising drafts to detect any inconsistencies or errors in measurements, design, or components.

3. Project Management and Coordination

• Team Leadership: Overseeing the work of junior draftsmen or other technical drawing staff, providing guidance, feedback, and support in the drafting process.
• Time Management: Effectively managing time and prioritizing tasks to meet project deadlines.
