Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Job Purpose:

  • Maintaining general ledger for Corporate, develop financial reports and analysis supporting the SVP – FP & A.
  • Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register by recording, disposing and depreciating assets in a timely manner.

Please note, this role is for a UAE national only

Roles and Responsibilities:

General Accounting

  • Daily accounting for corporate operational activities such as accruals, fixed assets, payables, receivables, and other liabilities.
  • Advising on complex accounting treatments for one-off transactions.
  • Interacting with external and internal auditors to provide financial records.
  • Preparing the corporate annual budget based on actuals.
  • Accounting and reporting of the Long-Term Incentive plan.
  • Record to report process including preparing financial statements for SPVs.

Monthly Reporting

  • Coordinate the closing timeline with Group Finance and ensure Corporate books are closed in a timely manner.
  • Provide corporate cash forecast to the treasury team to ensure sufficient cash availability.
  • Support automation of the financial reporting process through Hyperion, variance analysis, and potential scenario planning.
  • Implementing IFRS accounting at the operational level to ensure alignment with Group Accounting policies.
  • Providing feedback and initiatives on current reporting practices to improve reporting timelines.

Related Years Of Experience

Min of 5+ years of experience in General Accounting

Field of Experience:

  • Real estate company or Relatable industry with annual revenue of at least AED 2 billion.
  • Experience in a multi-location environment to effectively communicate with and influence all levels of the organization and drive change.

Technical and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong technical accounting understanding and a solid understanding of, and experience with, quantitative and qualitative financial analysis.
  • Experience with Hyperion or other large ERP systems and report writing systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification e.g., CPA, CIMA, CA, ACCA


Desired candidate profile

  1. Financial Reporting: Preparing accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with accounting standards.

  2. General Ledger Management: Overseeing the general ledger and ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.

  3. Reconciliation: Performing reconciliations of bank statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy.

  4. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, analyzing variances between actual and projected results.

  5. Audit Support: Coordinating with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations for financial records.

  6. Compliance: Ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies, including tax compliance.

  7. Financial Analysis: Conducting financial analysis to identify trends, assess performance, and provide insights for decision-making.

  8. Team Leadership: Mentoring and supervising junior accounting staff, providing guidance and training on accounting practices and procedures.

  9. Process Improvement: Identifying areas for process improvement within the accounting function and implementing best practices.

  10. Reporting to Management: Preparing and presenting financial reports to management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.

Skills

  1. Accounting Expertise: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS).

  2. Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing financial data and identifying trends and discrepancies.

  3. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and thoroughness in financial reporting and record-keeping.

  4. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, management, and external stakeholders.

  5. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis.

  6. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify problems and develop effective solutions related to financial processes and reporting.

  7. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

  8. Ethical Judgment: High ethical standards and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
