The role?
Responsible for project accounting duties including (but not restricted to) monthly accounting entries, reporting (quarterly and monthly), budgeting & forecasting, and supporting multiple projects.
Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas
- Responsible for all aspects of project accounting and ensuring projects operate with an appropriate and effective set of financial controls
- Timely and accurate preparation of business line accounting entries and reports in line with monthly and quarterly project timetables
- In depth review of Profit & Loss and liaising with project managers
- Assisting business lines with forecasting updates and variance analysis
- Capture and safeguard project risks and opportunities, mitigation plans and savings plans are properly calculated and disclosed at the project reviews
- Close working with assigned business line to assist with management and reduction of WIP, Accrued Income, Aged Debt and other KPI's
- Communicate and support internal and external payroll functions
- Ad-hoc duties as required by AMEC Financial Controller
- Previous experience in a project or management accountant role in a medium-sized business
- Wide knowledge of practical daily operations of an accounting team
- Experience working with integrated ERP business management systems
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
- Prior experience of project accounting
- 5 years relevant finance & accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and entries
- Prior experience in multi-national company
