Roles and responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Applications Manager to join our dynamic IT team to manage, oversee and support our internal business applications. The position holds the responsibility to lead the design, development, testing, planning, budgeting and implementation of complex systems and services that typically affect many employees and internal stakeholders. This position also works closely with project sponsors, business and technical partners, subject matter experts, end users, technical resources (internal and third-party vendors), senior management, and executives in the delivery and support of applications that ensure that the needs of business users are fully addressed, and continuous improvement is being achieved.
This is a role suits those with a high degree of IT skills with the ability to focus on extremely technical issues and display a sound knowledge of current hardware and software processes, as well as keeping a keen eye on products that are yet to come to market. An understanding of the way a business operates in an overall sense, possessing savvy business intuition that can help anticipate the business’ needs whilst managing personal time effectively under pressure. Responsibilities
- Managing an application portfolio and associated projects for various internal applications on premise and on cloud.
- Identifying opportunities for application optimization, redesign, or process improvement - focused on collaboration systems and internal tools.
- Research, procure and manage software applications that will contribute to the success of the company.
- Lead and manage the configuration, monitoring and maintenance of tools and systems as needed and ensuring that they are used across departments.
- Establishing protocols for software applications and ensuring their ease of use for internal business users.
- Managing and overseeing upgrades for servers, hardware, and software.
- Reporting on progress of operational issues to senior management, end users and stakeholders.
- Managing financial budgets for both specific projects and day-to-day running of specific departments
- Lead the vendor teams and internal teams during project implementation and support phases.
- Represent work group perspective and share information. Lead discussions and decisions regarding implementation of innovation and best practices. Inspire and motivate team, provide direction and manage performance.
- Assuring seamless integration of different applications from different vendors.
- Assuring seamless integration through testing and coordinating between the various teams.
- Create and maintain process flows, process flow descriptions and data flow diagrams by consulting and liaising with the business, vendors, developers and various IT infra teams.
- Lead and manage in new internal business system implementations, requirements gathering and documentation.
- Responsible for the resolution of all functional related issues including managing defects and coordinating for issues resolution with all stakeholders.
- Manage a team of internal resources and third parties / vendors for the flawless execution of projects, defects and support tickets.
- Demonstrate superior collaboration skills and techniques which appropriately define alternate solutions; resolve conflicts; and create partnerships with team members and stakeholders.
- Pro-actively develop and implement strategies that significantly mitigate risks.
- Establish contacts and cultivate relationships and a network both with business stakeholders and external contractors, vendors and parties’ delivering on the assigned project.
- Conduct follow-up meetings with stakeholders and team members to continuously improve internal engagement. processes and toolkits.
- Develop / maintain detailed project budgets.
- Drive consistency in the implementation of systems and best practices and align to the internal IT service and project policies and methodologies.
Desired candidate profile
- Java platforms, website and web content management systems, Dot Net framework and software development experience.
- Open-source platform experience for web and mobile applications.
- Contract Lifecycle Management software (CLM) and ticketing systems experience (ServiceNow).
- Experience in other systems’ architecture and platforms around Microsoft Azure, AWS, CRM, APIs, integrations, Azure data factory - is an advantage.
- Knowledge with data modelling and modern architecture concepts. Workflow and document management software.
- DevOps code management using cloud-based solutions e.g. Azure DevOps, Jira.
- Advanced proficiency in the use of MS Office solutions (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Teams and/or SharePoint applications.
- Knowledge of information security and GRC protocols and standards within an organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, web design or any related.
- At least 5+ years’ experience in an Applications Manager or similar role preferably supporting SaaS applications. 2+ years of Vendor management experience.
- Deep hands-on experience with application implementations, enhancements, and integrations.
- Demonstrative knowledge and experience of system design, databases and project management methodologies.
- Proven experience structuring frameworks/approaches to complex problem-solving.
- Proven experience working successfully in large, complex, fast-paced organization.
- Excellent communication skills and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Evidence of ongoing personal development and enrichment of IT and business skills.
