ASSISTANT CONTROLLER (Permanent)
Our client, a mechanical contracting company with long ties to Buffalo, NY, is looking to hire an Assistant ; This is a great opportunity in a company that appreciates its employees with summer hours (out at 4 on Fridays), company parties,

Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to Controller and work closely with CFO and Director of Finance
  • Provide coaching, training, and leadership for up to 3 direct reports, providing constructive feedback and guiding them for success
  • Collaborate with the Controller to improve financial policies and procedures to continue driving the company s growth
  • Manage daily processes of Accounts Payables/Receivables, Journal Entries, payroll, construction work in progress, and inventory to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Manage insurance policies, auditing and renewing when necessary
  • Assist in producing monthly financial forecasts and annual budgets
  • Assist with month-end, quarterly-end, and year-end & prepare accurate financials
  • Create reliable reports tracking KPIs, contract statuses, variances, and executive financial summaries
  • Oversee all cash movement and bank transactions, generating reports to detail activity
  • Oversee preparation of annual tax returns
  • Participate in all annual external audits
  • Analyze and identify discrepancies, issues, ; reconcile, rectify, and come up with solutions
  • Advise leadership team of potential risks in the financial reporting process
  • Complete ad hoc projects as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Details:

  • Position is full time, direct hire; hybrid potential (1-2 days remote)
  • Standard 40 hours/week (8:00AM-4:30PM)
  • $75,000 - $105,000 annually depending on experience + Bonus potential & ESOP
  • Excellent benefits: medical, dental, vision, paid holidays, PTO
  • Bachelor s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Master s Degree a plus; CPA preferred
  • 5-7 years relevant accounting experience, Construction a plus
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize; good time management skills
  • Relocation not available
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; Visa sponsorship is not available
