ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

Overview

Our client, a premier Southwest Florida resort destination, is seeking a full-time Assistant Controller to join their growing accounting team. In this hands-on accounting position, you will work alongside the Director of Finance & Accounting to support the formulation and implementation of accounting systems, assist with the development and evaluation of budgets, and support the accounting department with all aspects of the general ledger. Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and assists the Director of Finance & Accounting in providing financial leadership to the business including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxes and internal controls
  
• Assist in development and implementation of accounting systems, methods, procedures and internal controls
  
• Coordinate more complex accounting projects, functions, and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments
  
• Utilize accounting IT systems to facilitate processes and maintain records
  
• Supervise the Accounts Payable team
  
• Participate with the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting
  
• Assist with preparations for audits
  
• Ensure all accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines and established accounting principles
  
• Delegates accounting tasks to junior accounting staff
  
• Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed
  

Requirements

• Bachelor s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Related Field is required, with a background in the following industries:
  
• Restaurant
  
• Retail
  
• Property Development
  
• Real Estate Management
  
• Marina and Construction
  
• At least 10 years of Accounting experience
  
• CPA preferred
  
• Experience with system conversion and process re-engineering
  
• Strong understanding of complex entity accounting and consolidations, as well as intercompany account reconciliations and transactions
  
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
  
• Detail oriented and highly organized, with a proficiency in time management and task prioritization
  
• Preferred experience with Restaurant 365, NetSuites, or MRI Tenant Management systems
