Job Description

One of our leading Construction industry clients in the UAE is looking for an HSE Officer who will be responsible for the employee to work in safe environment.

He will oversee the health, safety and environmental effects of all the activities and identify hazards, assess risks, and implement solutions to prevent injuries or illness from occurring. Responsible for implementing HSMS.

Responsibilities

Responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations and developing measures to assure personnel safety.
Will correct unsafe acts or conditions through the regular line of authority, although the Safety Officer may exercise emergency authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts when immediate action is required.
Maintains awareness of active and developing situations.
Ensures the Site Safety and Health Plan is prepared and implemented.
Ensures there are safety messages in each Incident Action Plan.
Liaise with the head of the unit or controlled entity, OHS Unit, and other safety personnel.
Review and analyze injury and incident reports and data Develop injury and incident prevention strategies for their area.
Monitor local area compliance with OHS policy and procedures.
Help promote OHS awareness.
Develop the Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS) depending on the nature of the
activity and implement them.
Monitor compliance to the HSMS by conducting regular inspections and internal auditing of site
activities.
Non-compliance has to be reported to the department/project in-charge and followed-up until
rectified.
Update existing policies and procedures as required.
Good understanding of the HSE Legislation of the respective Emirate (the office or project is in) and
stay up to date.
Provide the necessary advice to the Site Manager on site health and safety issues.
Conduct periodic safety inspections in all the locations and prepare a reports for submittal and
review of the office/project in-charge.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective action.

Requirements

Qualifications

Engineering or Diploma in HSE

Occupational Safety and Health Certification

ISO Auditor Certification - Preferred.

Experience

Should have at least 7 years of experience as HSE Officer or Engineer, with minimum 3 yearsin the UAE

Should have experience in construction work, dealing with contractors and sub-contractors.

Should have experience in developing and implementing ISO 45001.2018.

Should have Driving License, Strong communication and training skills, document development skills, well versed with MS Word and Excel, Physically fit and sound, Fluency in English.

Arabic speaker - desirable
