The Specialist HSE plays a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment across all operations and projects. This role is responsible for the development implementation and continuous improvement of health safety and environmental policies procedures and programs. The Specialist proactively identifies risks conducts audits and assessments and works closely with project teams and stakeholders to foster a culture where safety is a core value.
Key Responsibilities:
- HSE Program Development:
Design implement and manage comprehensive HSE programs aligned with local national and international regulations and standards. - Risk Management & Assessment:
Lead detailed hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA) job safety analysis (JSA) and environmental impact assessments (EIA) for new and ongoing operations. - Compliance Monitoring:
Ensure company operations are compliant with all relevant HSE legislation client requirements and industry best practices. - Incident Management:
Investigate accidents incidents and near-misses determine root causes and recommend corrective/preventive actions to avoid recurrence. - Training & Awareness:
Develop and deliver HSE training programs toolbox talks and workshops to enhance safety competencies across the workforce. - Inspections & Audits:
Conduct routine site inspections internal audits and safety walks to identify non-compliance and opportunities for improvement. - Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of safety metrics incidents inspections and regulatory submissions. Provide timely reports to management and regulatory bodies as required. - Emergency Preparedness:
Lead the development and testing of emergency response plans including evacuation drills fire response and spill containment procedures. - Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with internal teams contractors and external agencies to align safety goals share best practices and address HSE challenges.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Health & Safety Environmental Science Engineering or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH IGC IOSH OSHA or equivalent are highly desirable.
- 5 years of experience in HSE roles preferably in high-risk industries such as construction oil & gas or heavy manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE legislation standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience conducting investigations audits and risk assessments.
- Excellent communication and training delivery skills.
