Job Description

A Fire System Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring fire detection alarm and suppression systems operate reliably and safely. This involves inspecting testing maintaining and repairing fire safety equipment including sprinklers pumps extinguishers and alarm panels. They also play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and codes.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection and Testing:
Regularly inspect and test fire safety equipment including fire alarms sprinkler systems extinguishers and other related components to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety standards.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning lubricating and adjusting equipment as well as repairing or replacing faulty parts including pipes valves and detection devices.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve issues with fire alarm systems sprinkler systems and other fire suppression equipment using technical knowledge and diagnostic tools.
Compliance:
Ensure that fire safety systems adhere to relevant local and national fire codes and regulations including NFPA standards.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities inspections repairs and system modifications often using electronic or paper-based documentation systems.
Emergency Response:
Respond to fire alarm activations and other fire-related emergencies providing support and assistance as needed.
System Upgrades and Modifications:
Assist with the installation of new fire safety systems modifications to existing systems and upgrades to meet changing requirements or standards.
Client Communication:
Communicate effectively with clients building managers and other stakeholders regarding system status maintenance schedules and any necessary repairs or upgrades.
Training and Support:
Provide technical guidance and training to clients and other team members on fire safety procedures and equipment operation.
Safety Awareness:
Promote a strong safety culture ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with health and safety regulations and best practices.
