Job description
The Planning Engineer plays a pivotal role in the construction and building industry particularly in
managing and coordinating project schedules to ensure timely completion. This position requires a
seasoned professional with extensive experience in planning and scheduling adept at utilizing various
project management tools and methodologies. The Planning Engineer will collaborate with project
managers engineers and stakeholders to develop comprehensive plans that align with project goals
and objectives. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential for identifying potential risks
and implementing effective solutions.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules (using tools like Primavera P6 & MS Project)
covering all phases of the project.
2. Track project performance against the baseline schedule; provide early warning of delays and
propose mitigation strategies.
3. Generate and present regular progress reports S-curves critical path analysis and earned value
management (EVM) data to stakeholders.
4. Coordinate with project managers and teams to forecast labor material and equipment
requirements.
5. Coordinate with project teams to gather input and ensure alignment on project timelines.
6. Monitor project progress and update schedules as necessary to reflect changes and delays.
7. Prepare detailed reports on project status including forecasts and performance metrics.
8. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project
timelines.
9. Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders to discuss project updates and address concerns.
10. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
11. Collaborate with procurement teams to align schedules with material and resource availability.
12. Assist in the preparation of project budgets and resource allocation plans.
Preferred Candidate:
1. Proven experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
2. Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
5. Proficiency in project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 & MS Project.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
