The Vehicular Bridges Structural Inspector is responsible for conducting onsite inspections of vehicular bridges to assess the structural condition of various components. This role includes identifying defects documenting findings and preparing detailed inspection reports to support maintenance planning.
- Conduct routine and special inspections of vehicular bridges including superstructure substructure deck bearings joints parapets and other structural elements.
- Identify and document any structural damage deterioration or defects in accordance with established inspection standards and safety regulations.
- Collect relevant field data including measurements photographs sketches and notes.
- Use inspection tools and equipment such as crack gauges rebound hammers and drones (if applicable) to aid in condition assessment.
- Assess bridge elements based on condition rating systems (e.g. AASHTO local codes).
- Prepare comprehensive inspection and defect reports including observations findings and recommended corrective actions.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams and engineers to prioritize and schedule necessary repairs.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety procedures during field inspections.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and contribute to bridge inventory management systems.
Qualifications :
- Diploma or Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 07 years of experience in bridge construction or structural inspection
- Familiarity with relevant bridge inspection standards (e.g. AASHTO FHWA or local equivalents).
- Knowledge of structural defects material behavior and deterioration mechanisms.
- Proficiency in report writing and use of inspection software or asset management systems.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to various site locations.
