Roles and responsibilities
We are looking for a highly skilled Principal ICT Engineer to lead multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects for clients across the GCC. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in planning, designing, and engineering ICT and field communication infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on delivering innovative, cost-efficient, and regulation-compliant solutions.
This role requires substantial experience in ICT civil infrastructure and site-wide connectivity design, along with a deep understanding of GPON, FTTH, OSP , and ICT capacity planning for large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities :
Technical Design:
- Lead the development of active and passive telecommunication networks, OSP, and ICT technology backbones
- Prepare comprehensive design documentation and schematics, including Concept, Detailed Design, and Tender documents
- Develop cost-effective and scalable network infrastructures using hybrid topologies (e.g., PON, P2P)
- Coordinate with Civil Infra, landscape and utilities teams for civil works of ICT containment, poles and duct works of ICT and Security systems
- Strong design background ICT systems, including data centers, IT systems, and control rooms
- Oversee end-to-end ICT and smart technology project delivery, including scope definition, design, and implementation
- Engage with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions
- Facilitate coordination with authorities to secure necessary approvals and ensure regulatory compliance
- Mentor and guide cross-functional teams, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project goals
- Provide technical oversight and support to junior engineers and designers
Key Skills :
- Deep understanding of GPON, FTTH, OSP, and ICT capacity planning for large-scale projects
- Engineering design consultancy experience is highly preferable
- Extensive knowledge of UAE/GCC telecom, ICT and security codes and regulations
- Proven experience in multi-disciplinary project management and ICT systems integration
- Strong communication and report-writing skills, with proficiency in English (Arabic is a plus)
Qualifications
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in computer system engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution.
- 12–15 years of experience in ICT design and engineering
- Certification in PMP or CCNA, CCNP, BICSI RCDD, DCDC, or Uptime Accredited Tier Designer/Professional (Preferred).
- Proven track record in managing complex, multidisciplinary projects.

. In-Depth Technical Expertise
- Systems Architecture: Expertise in designing and overseeing complex ICT system architectures that integrate hardware, software, networking, and storage. Ability to design scalable, robust, and secure systems that meet business needs.
- Networking Technologies: Strong understanding of network protocols, systems, and configurations (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, VLANs, VPNs, MPLS, SD-WAN). Familiar with both LAN and WAN systems and how they interconnect.
- Cloud Computing: Proficiency in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), including cloud migration, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). Ability to design and manage cloud-based infrastructure.
- Virtualization: Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM, and how to optimize infrastructure using virtual machines and containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Operating Systems: Expertise in a variety of operating systems, including Linux, Windows Server, and Unix-based systems, as well as understanding their configuration and maintenance within enterprise environments.
- Database Systems: Strong experience with databases, including relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra). Proficient in database design, optimization, and administration.
- Security & Compliance: Deep knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, encryption, and secure networking practices. Understanding of compliance frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.
2. Leadership and Strategic Oversight
- Team Leadership: Leading and mentoring a team of engineers and ICT specialists, ensuring they have the necessary resources, guidance, and development opportunities. Helping team members solve technical challenges and improve their skills.
- Project Management: Overseeing ICT projects, from planning to execution. Ability to manage project timelines, resources, and budgets while ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership, business units, and clients. Ability to align ICT strategy with business goals.
- Risk Management: Identifying risks within ICT systems, including data breaches, system downtimes, and compliance violations, and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
3. ICT Strategy and Innovation
- Strategic Planning: Contributing to the development of long-term ICT strategies and ensuring the alignment of ICT infrastructure with organizational goals. Proposing technological innovations and improvements to enhance business operations.
- Emerging Technologies: Keeping up to date with emerging technologies (e.g., 5G, AI/ML, blockchain, IoT) and evaluating their potential impact on the organization’s ICT infrastructure. Leading the adoption of these technologies when appropriate.
- Cost Optimization: Identifying cost-effective solutions that do not compromise the performance or security of ICT systems. Streamlining processes to reduce unnecessary expenditures on hardware, software, or services.
4. Systems Integration and Troubleshooting
- Integration Expertise: Expertise in integrating complex systems and ensuring smooth interoperability between different platforms, software, and hardware.
- Performance Optimization: Identifying areas where systems can be optimized for better performance, scalability, and efficiency. Implementing solutions for load balancing, high availability, and fault tolerance.
- Troubleshooting & Incident Management: Leading efforts to diagnose and resolve critical system failures, network outages, and security incidents. Implementing robust incident response plans and ensuring timely resolution.
