Roles and responsibilities
The Technical Manager - ESCO is responsible for leading the technical design and engineering of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and overseeing Measurement & Verification (M&V) processes to ensure that all energy efficiency projects meet performance that has been assured to the client. The ideal candidate will possess advanced certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager) and /or CMVP (Certified Measurement & Verification Professional), with a deep understanding of energy modelling and regression analysis. This role includes managing a team of Energy Engineers, collaborating with internal stakeholders (BDM team , MEP team ), and support in winning of projects and successful project implementation and its performance verification.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and execute energy-saving strategies and ECMs for commercial, industrial, and residential facilities.
- Ensure that technical designs and project implementations align with energy-saving targets and performance guarantees.
- Conduct Level 1 and 2 energy audits to identify energy-saving opportunities in HVAC systems, lighting, chillers, BAS, and other equipment.
- Prepare audit reports, techno-commercial offers, and client presentations.
- Perform energy modeling and regression analysis to develop baselines and forecast energy savings.
- Implement and manage M&V protocols in line with IPMVP.
- Prepare M&V reports to demonstrate energy savings and facilitate client approvals and invoicing.
- Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on energy savings and project performance.
- Lead and manage a team of Energy Engineers, providing mentorship and guidance.
- Set performance targets for the team and ensure project timelines and deliverables are met.
- Collaborate with the Business Development team to provide technical expertise during client presentations, proposals, and bid processes.
- Advise the MEP Design Manager on incorporating energy-efficient solutions into MEP designs.
- Liaise with the MEP Divisional Manager during the implementation phase of ESCO projects.
- Recommend improvements in processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance project performance and client satisfaction.
Desired candidate profile
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in relevant field (Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, or Electrical Engineering)
- Relevant certifications (CMVP, CEM, CEA)
- ISO50001 and LEED GA (preferred)
- UAE/GCC/International Driving License
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in ESCO or similar industry
- 3-4 years as Technical Manager in a reputable ESCO organization
- Expertise in HVAC systems, lighting, and building control management systems
- Understanding of energy standards, codes, and regulations
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Teamwork and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and data analytics
- Experience with building energy simulation software (preferred)
Knowledge And Skills
- Functional knowledge of energy management companies/ESCOs
- Good understanding of engineering, design, and M&V concepts
- Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining business relationships
