Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • A warehouse helper plays a key role in ensuring smooth operations within a warehouse environment. Some of the key skills and tasks involved in this role include:

  • Loading and Unloading: Assisting with loading goods onto trucks and unloading deliveries from suppliers.

  • Inventory Assistance: Helping with tracking stock, organizing products, and ensuring items are correctly placed in the appropriate areas.

  • Order Preparation: Picking and packing products according to customer orders, ensuring everything is accurate before shipping.

  • Product Handling: Ensuring that products are handled with care, helping to prevent any damage during storage or transport.

  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Keeping the warehouse space tidy and organized, which includes sweeping, maintaining shelves, and ensuring clear aisles.

  • Basic Equipment Operation: Using manual or mechanical tools to help move products around the warehouse, like pallet jacks, and sometimes forklifts if certified.

  • Shipping and Receiving: Assisting with receiving deliveries, checking goods for accuracy, and preparing items for shipping.

  • Safety Awareness: Following safety protocols, wearing appropriate gear (like gloves and safety boots), and helping to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Organization: Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, ensuring materials are stored correctly.
  • Manual Labor: Lifting, carrying, or moving goods, often requiring physical strength and stamina.

Desired candidate profile

  1. Inventory Management: Keeping track of stock levels, organizing items, and ensuring proper storage.
  2. Order Fulfillment: Picking and packing orders accurately and efficiently.
  3. Forklift Operation: Operating forklifts to move large or heavy items, if required (may require certification).
  4. Product Inspection: Checking goods for damage or discrepancies before shipment.
  5. Labeling and Tagging: Ensuring all items are properly labeled and ready for shipping.
  6. Shipping and Receiving: Handling incoming and outgoing shipments, verifying the contents, and managing shipping documentation.
  7. Safety Procedures: Following health and safety guidelines to avoid accidents or injuries.
  8. Teamwork and Communication: Collaborating with other team members, supervisors, and different departments for smooth operations.
  9. Organization: Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, ensuring materials are stored correctly.
  10. Manual Labor: Lifting, carrying, or moving goods, often requiring physical strength and stamina.
