Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership in the development of transport master plans and mobility solutions for various projects across the Middle East.
  • Client Engagement: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, understanding their objectives, presenting proposals, and ensuring overall client satisfaction.
  • Innovative Solutions: Spearhead the integration of cutting-edge technologies and future mobility concepts into transport infrastructure projects.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring successful delivery within prescribed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including government entities, urban planners, and engineering teams, to align transport plans with broader development strategies.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of transport planning professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all transport plans adhere to local regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Utilize data analysis and insights to inform strategic decisions and optimize transport solutions.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in transport planning, with a focus on master plans, plot design, and future mobility solutions.
  • Proven ability to engage with clients, understand their needs, and present comprehensive project proposals.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • In-depth knowledge of transport infrastructure projects in the Middle East, particularly in the UAE.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools for transport planning and analysis.

Desired candidate profile

1. Strategic Leadership and Vision

  • Leadership: Leading and managing a team of transportation planners, engineers, and consultants to deliver complex and large-scale transportation projects.
  • Long-Term Planning: Developing long-term transportation strategies and policies that align with regional or national goals for sustainable, safe, and efficient mobility. This includes evaluating current transportation systems and planning for future needs.
  • Innovation in Mobility: Staying at the forefront of trends in mobility and transport, including innovations like autonomous vehicles, shared mobility, active transportation, and smart cities, to incorporate these elements into planning efforts.
  • Policy Development: Advising on the development and refinement of transportation policies that promote sustainable transport options, reduce congestion, and improve the quality of life for residents.

2. Project Management and Delivery

  • Project Oversight: Managing a portfolio of transport planning projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with quality standards.
  • Coordination: Overseeing the coordination between multidisciplinary teams involved in transport planning and infrastructure projects (e.g., urban designers, civil engineers, traffic engineers, environmental consultants).
  • Feasibility Studies: Conducting feasibility studies for new transport projects, analyzing data on traffic flow, transportation needs, and environmental impact to determine project viability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with government officials, local communities, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to secure support for transportation initiatives and ensure the community’s needs and concerns are addressed.

3. Transportation System Design and Planning

  • Master Planning: Creating transportation master plans and mobility frameworks that define the transportation infrastructure needed for urban development or regeneration.
  • Traffic Modeling: Utilizing transportation modeling software to simulate traffic flows, evaluate infrastructure impacts, and optimize traffic management solutions.
  • Transit Systems Design: Designing and planning transit systems, including bus, rail, ferry, and cycling infrastructure, to provide effective and efficient mobility options for urban and regional areas.
  • Integrated Mobility: Developing strategies for integrated, multimodal transportation systems that combine private, public, and active transport to improve overall mobility and reduce congestion.

4. Sustainability and Environmental Considerations

  • Sustainable Transport Solutions: Advocating for sustainable transport options, such as public transit, cycling infrastructure, electric vehicle (EV) networks, and walking paths to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmental sustainability.
  • Environmental Impact Assessment: Conducting environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for transportation projects to ensure that plans minimize negative environmental consequences and comply with regulations.
  • Climate Change Mitigation: Integrating climate change mitigation strategies into transport planning, including measures to promote low-carbon transport and resilience to extreme weather events.
