Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Study, review and verify all the project specifications, drawings to ensure that the project scope is properly understood and subsequently followed.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs from engineering drawings in order to facilitate the timely procurement of materials.
  • Control and monitor the site staff continuously to ensure that the maximum outputs are achieved and subsequently the required work progress is maintained.
  • Plan, execute, monitor, evaluate and follow site progress, inspections and approvals closely and continuously to ensure that the project activities are completed to the specified technical standards within the required time.
  • Follow and monitor the materials requirements continuously with procurement/stores to ensure the uninterrupted sourcing to the site works and further ensure that the materials are compiled to the technical specifications.
  • Make necessary coordination between project management and site supervisory staff by means of effective communications to facilitate smooth site operation.
  • Always liaise with necessary internal parties and closely follow the QA/QC, safety procedure to ensure that the highest standards are maintained.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or similar discipline.
  • Minimum years of relevant experience: 3-5 years of overall experience in the construction sector (MEP)
  • Leadership skills, hardworking and result-oriented attitudes are required.
  • Language – English
  • Computer Skills, i.e. Microsoft Office
  • Communication skills

Desired candidate profile

  • Project Planning and Coordination:

    • Planning Work Schedules: Developing detailed work plans and schedules, ensuring resources (material, equipment, labor) are available when needed to keep the project on track.
    • Coordination with Stakeholders: Coordinating with architects, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all project elements align and progress as planned.
    • Reporting: Providing regular progress reports on work completed, issues encountered, and any changes made to the project.
  • Managing Site Operations:

    • Overseeing Construction Activities: Supervising day-to-day operations on the construction site, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and according to schedule.
    • Site Safety: Implementing and monitoring safety protocols and practices on-site to prevent accidents and injuries, ensuring compliance with local safety regulations and standards.
    • Quality Control: Ensuring that the construction work meets the required quality standards, specifications, and building codes. Regularly inspecting work to identify potential problems and implementing corrective measures.
  • Technical Support and Problem-Solving:

    • Resolving Technical Issues: Providing technical support to the project team by addressing any engineering or design-related challenges that arise during construction.
    • Design Implementation: Ensuring the construction process follows the technical specifications outlined in the project design. This may include interpreting blueprints, schematics, and engineering plans.
    • Adapting to Changes: Making adjustments to the construction process if changes are needed, such as modifications to designs or unforeseen issues during construction.
  • Resource Management:

    • Material Management: Ensuring that the necessary construction materials are delivered on time and are used effectively, preventing waste and ensuring cost-efficiency.
    • Equipment Management: Managing construction equipment and machinery, ensuring it is properly maintained and available when needed.
