Roles and responsibilities
1. Customer Service Skills
- Providing friendly, professional, and attentive service to guests.
- Assisting the server by greeting guests, answering questions about the menu, and ensuring their dining experience is pleasant.
- Responding to guest needs promptly and professionally, including refilling drinks or delivering additional items.
2. Teamwork
- Collaborating effectively with the server, kitchen staff, and other team members to ensure smooth service.
- Communicating clearly with the front-of-house team about guest needs and orders.
- Assisting colleagues during busy times to ensure that service runs efficiently.
3. Knowledge of Menu and Ingredients
- Understanding the restaurant’s menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and specials, to assist guests with inquiries and help make recommendations.
- Being aware of dietary restrictions or allergens and ensuring that guests are informed about menu options that meet their needs.
4. Food and Beverage Service
- Assisting in delivering food and drinks to the table, ensuring accuracy and that guests are satisfied with their orders.
- Helping to clear plates, glasses, and utensils from tables as needed, while maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Setting and resetting tables for the next guests, ensuring a neat and inviting dining environment.
5. Attention to Detail
- Checking the quality and presentation of dishes before serving, ensuring that all items meet the restaurant’s standards.
- Keeping an eye on guests' needs, such as refilling drinks, offering condiments, or addressing any requests.
6. Multitasking and Time Management
- Balancing multiple tasks at once, such as assisting with food delivery, clearing tables, and supporting the server with special requests.
- Prioritizing tasks to ensure smooth and timely service during busy shifts.
7. Physical Stamina and Dexterity
- Carrying trays of food and beverages, sometimes for long periods or in a fast-paced environment.
- Being able to stand and walk for extended periods while maintaining an energetic, positive attitude.
8. Communication Skills
- Communicating effectively with guests, kitchen staff, and other restaurant personnel.
- Accurately relaying orders to the kitchen or updating the server on the status of food and drink items.
- Ensuring all guest preferences and special requests are addressed.
Desired candidate profile
- Serve food, set-up and clearing of china, glass, and silver from service as well as attend to guest needs and requests.
- Provide an expertly served dining experience conforming by clearing and resetting tables according to standards.
