Roles and responsibilities
You will be coordinating key aspects of output: people management, metrics, productivity targets, and process improvements. The extent of your responsibilities will include:
- Handling Health and Safety and employee satisfaction at your Fulfilment Centres, including supervising employee wellbeing and productivity.
- Effectively collaborating on Health and Safety projects, across various Operations sites.
- Providing authoritative guidance on Health & Safety matters to all stakeholders, especially on those relating to your designated area of responsibility.
- Review and audit arrangements for Health & Safety management, while continuously improving these arrangements where appropriate.
- Plan and implement work systems around reducing Health and Safety risks, e.g. recommending suitable adaptations to machinery and processes.
- Ensure robust reporting regimes are in place for Health and Safety statistics.
- Provide management with information and statistics related to your area of responsibility.
- Support business change, via effective change management processes in the context of your Fulfilment Centre’s flexible environment
- Direct behavioral culture change programs, across a large, complex, multi-shift operation.
- Implement and review Amazon’s global safety policies, ensuring that local legislative requirements are also met
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of workplace health & safety (WHS) related field experience
- High school or equivalent diploma
- Experience using Microsoft Word in a professional capacity
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in emergency response
- Experience in worker's compensation case management
Desired candidate profile
1. Knowledge of Safety Regulations
- Understanding of local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and other relevant guidelines.
- Familiarity with industry-specific safety requirements (e.g., construction, manufacturing, healthcare).
2. Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification
- Ability to identify potential workplace hazards and assess risks related to equipment, procedures, chemicals, and the environment.
- Conducting thorough safety inspections and audits to identify and eliminate risks.
3. Analytical Skills
- Evaluating safety data, incident reports, and accident investigations to identify patterns and trends.
- Analyzing accident reports to determine causes and recommend corrective actions.
4. Incident Investigation and Reporting
- Investigating workplace accidents and near-misses to determine the root cause.
- Preparing detailed reports on accidents and injuries, ensuring documentation is accurate for compliance purposes.
5. Communication Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly convey safety protocols, policies, and procedures to employees and management.
- Ability to create safety manuals, training materials, and safety reports that are clear and understandable.
6. Training and Education
- Designing and delivering safety training programs to employees, ensuring that they understand the necessary safety practices and procedures.
- Keeping up with new safety trends and continuously educating employees on safety matters.
7. Problem-Solving Skills
- Identifying issues related to workplace safety and implementing corrective actions or new safety protocols to resolve them.
- Addressing safety violations or concerns promptly and effectively.
8. Attention to Detail
- Monitoring safety conditions, ensuring that safety equipment is properly maintained, and verifying that employees adhere to safety protocols.
- Reviewing incident reports and safety records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
