Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Lead site risk assessment for current and new activities.
  • Establish site WHS training matrix.
  • Lead implementation of site specific WHS standards and guidelines.
  • Lead implementation of site WHS objective and programs.
  • Promote safe culture among employees by providing daily WHS content to shift briefing.
  • Perform frequent site safety audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site.
  • Work with Operations team to implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury.
  • Attending to incidents and occupational injuries cases on site.
  • Guide and assist area managers on incident investigations, Gensuite write up and communication of lesson learned.
  • Assisting Ops team in Gensuite follow up sheet and CAPA creation.
  • Audit record-keeping practices and ensure Gensuite entries to be aligned with global WHS standards and local regulations.
  • Ensure the PPE inventory at site and coordinate with procurement for order placement.
  • Key Safety Requirement (KSR) Audit weekly assignment, monitoring and support.
  • Ensure basic Fire Fighting training and first aid training completion. requirements.
  • Daily Powered Industrial Tool and Trailer Dock Release inspection and communications.
  • Daily Action Tracking System monitoring and support.
  • Participate in site management safety walk, provide insight into unsafe acts and conditions to management.
  • Provide daily update to Country WHS Manager on objectives progress, incidents, KSR, ATS, network actions, etc).
  • Preparation of WHS committee meeting agenda, MOM write up, ATS creation.
  • Daily Permit to Work review and sign off.
  • Lead on WHS related procurement and follow up.
  • Preparing emergency response plans.
  • Managing and conducting emergency drills.
  • Managing preparation and training of emergency drills, prepare records.
  • Heat Index establishment, monitoring and support.
  • Provide support to site specific requests, unplanned events and activities.
  • Conduct daily and weekly WHS audits, such as hazard waste room inspection, spill kit inspection, first aid room, etc.

Basic Qualifications

  • NEBOSH IGC certified
  • 1 year of experience in OHS field.
  • Good communicator – English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment and customer focus skills
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
  • Experience leading and managing a team
  • Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses
  • Experienced in emergency response and currently holds First aid and CPR certificates
  • Experience in Worker’s Compensation case management
  • Analyzing and manipulating data

Desired candidate profile

1. Knowledge of Safety Regulations and Standards

  • A comprehensive understanding of safety regulations such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards, local labor laws, and industry-specific safety guidelines.
  • Familiarity with other safety-related standards like NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and ANSI (American National Standards Institute).

2. Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification

  • Ability to identify potential hazards in the workplace (e.g., physical, chemical, ergonomic, or environmental hazards).
  • Conducting thorough risk assessments and evaluating the severity and probability of various risks.

3. Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis

  • Skills in investigating workplace incidents, identifying the root causes of accidents, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ability to conduct accident and near-miss investigations and document findings.

4. Emergency Response Planning

  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining emergency response plans for various scenarios such as fire, medical emergencies, chemical spills, or natural disasters.
  • Ability to conduct emergency drills and ensure that employees are trained on safety procedures.

5. Communication and Training

  • Strong communication skills to educate employees about safety standards, protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver safety training programs and create safety manuals or policies.

6. Attention to Detail

  • Ability to meticulously monitor safety conditions, equipment, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Spotting potential safety issues or non-compliance that could lead to accidents or injuries.

7. Problem-Solving Skills

  • The ability to proactively identify safety concerns and implement solutions to address them.
  • Handling emergency situations effectively and making decisions that prioritize health and safety.

8. Health and Wellness Awareness

  • Awareness of ergonomics, workplace health hazards, and measures to promote employee well-being.
  • Ability to implement programs aimed at reducing health risks such as stress, repetitive strain injuries, and mental health issues.

9. Analytical and Reporting Skills

  • Ability to analyze safety data, including injury reports, hazard assessments, and audits, to track trends and propose improvements.
  • Experience in maintaining safety records, compliance documentation, and preparing safety reports for management.
