Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Communicates politely and display courtesy to guests and internal customers
  • Provides direction to the kitchen helpers, including cooks, kitchen attendants, and stewards
  • Communicates to his/her superior any difficulties, guest or internal customer comment and other relevant information
  • Establishes and maintains effective employee working relationships
  • Attends and participates in daily briefings and other meetings as scheduled
  • Attends and participates in training sessions as scheduled
  • Prepares in advance food, beverage, material and equipment needed for the service
  • Maintains a clean and hygienic work area
  • Implements the hotel and department regulations, policies and procedures including but not limited to:
    • House rules and regulation
    • Health and safety
    • Grooming
    • Standard operations procedures
    • HACCP
  • Performs related duties and special projects as assigned
  • Follows the JANA system rules
  • Demonstrate awareness of OH&S policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within OH&S guidelines
  • Be aware of duty of care and adhere to occupational, health and safety legislation, policies and procedures
  • Be familiar with property safety, first aid and fire and emergency procedures and operate equipment safely and sensibly
  • Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation and notify supervisors of potential dangers
  • Log security incidents and accidents in accordance with hotel requirements

  • Must have similar experience working in either a luxury restaurant or a 5* hotel environment
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Ability to lead a large team
  • Committed to serving food of the highest quality
  • Has a passion for cooking and creating new menu

Desired candidate profile

1. Customer Service Excellence

  • Personalized Service: Offering tailored services to guests in the Club Lounge, including greeting them by name, fulfilling special requests, and ensuring a high level of comfort.
  • Handling Requests: Attending to guest inquiries, requests for additional amenities, or special needs promptly and professionally.
  • Guest Relations: Building rapport with guests to ensure a positive experience and to encourage repeat visits.

2. Food and Beverage Management

  • Serving Complimentary Snacks/Meals: Club Lounges often offer snacks, beverages, or light meals throughout the day (e.g., breakfast, afternoon tea, hors d'oeuvres, or cocktails).
  • Food Presentation: Ensuring that food and beverage offerings are presented attractively and are replenished as necessary.
  • Menu Knowledge: Familiarity with menu items, special dietary restrictions, and being able to recommend dishes or drinks based on guest preferences.
  • Alcohol Service: In some cases, the lounge may offer premium spirits or wines, and attendants should be knowledgeable about these offerings.

3. Attention to Detail

  • Ambiance Maintenance: Keeping the Club Lounge area neat, clean, and well-maintained, ensuring a relaxing and pleasant environment.
  • Comfort and Decor: Ensuring seating arrangements, lighting, temperature, and decor are always conducive to a comfortable and luxurious atmosphere.

4. Communication Skills

  • Coordinating with Other Departments: Ensuring that food, beverage, or guest service requests are communicated promptly to the kitchen or other hotel departments.
  • Guest Interaction: Communicating with guests about the lounge’s services, daily offerings, or any special events available exclusively for club members.
  • Problem Solving: Addressing and resolving any guest concerns or complaints with professionalism and courtesy.

5. VIP/Member Services

  • Exclusive Amenities: Offering additional amenities or services, such as concierge assistance, priority check-in/check-out, or organizing transportation.
  • Member Relations: Ensuring that regular or VIP members feel valued, remembering their preferences, and ensuring an exceptional experience.

6. Knowledge of Hotel Facilities and Services

  • Hotel Information: Being knowledgeable about other hotel services or special promotions, so guests can be informed or directed to any available options.
  • Event Scheduling: Assisting with event reservations, lounge access for special events, or private functions held in the club lounge.
