Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Organize and supervise regular gym / fitness related activities and events to maximize members enjoyment / use of fitness center and to keep ahead with our competition
  • Develop and maintain professionally safe and effective fitness procedures, programs and activities in the fitness center and ensure proper fitness practice at all times
  • Co-ordinate the aerobics / exercise program and studio usage and continually seek ways of introducing new ideas to maximize revenues
  • Supervise the cleaning and maintenance of the fitness center ensuring clear standards are always met and equipment is always in good working order
  • Aware of the rules and regulations of the gym and how to deal with guest applications on memberships and their process

What we need from you

  • Good level of spoken/written English
  • Flexibility in shifts & tasks
  • Minimum two years of experience in a similar environment (4-5* hotel)
  • Gym-instructor / Personal training certificate in Level 2 or Level 3 along with First Aid
  • Leading and instructing individual or group fitness classes, such as strength training, yoga, or aerobic sessions.
  • Assessing clients’ fitness levels and developing customized workout plans.
  • Offering guidance on proper exercise techniques and equipment usage.
  • Monitoring clients during workouts to ensure safety and providing corrective feedback.
  • Motivating clients to maintain focus on their goals and achieve optimal results.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and order in the gym.
  • Providing advice on nutrition and general wellness to complement fitness training.

1. Fitness Knowledge and Expertise

  • A strong understanding of exercise physiology, nutrition, and fitness techniques.
  • Ability to design and deliver effective workout plans for clients of different fitness levels.
  • Knowledge of proper exercise techniques to ensure safety and maximize effectiveness.

2. Personalized Training Programs

  • Creating tailored fitness plans based on individual goals, such as weight loss, muscle gain, or overall health improvement.
  • Monitoring clients’ progress and adjusting their training programs to meet evolving needs.
  • Offering advice on exercise routines, recovery, and healthy habits.

3. Communication Skills

  • Clear and effective communication when explaining exercises, instructions, and techniques.
  • Ability to motivate clients and provide positive reinforcement.
  • Listening to clients’ needs, goals, and concerns and providing appropriate feedback or modifications.

4. Motivational Skills

  • Inspiring and encouraging clients to push themselves and reach their fitness goals.
  • Helping clients overcome mental or physical barriers to exercise.
  • Creating a positive and engaging atmosphere in sessions to keep clients motivated.

5. Knowledge of Health and Safety

  • Ensuring clients perform exercises correctly to avoid injury and strain.
  • Understanding emergency procedures, such as CPR and first aid, and applying them if needed.
  • Keeping the gym equipment safe, clean, and in good working condition.

6. Customer Service Skills

  • Establishing strong relationships with clients through friendly, professional interactions.
  • Being approachable and responsive to client needs, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Handling client concerns or complaints with patience and professionalism.

7. Physical Fitness and Stamina

  • Maintaining a high level of personal fitness to lead by example.
  • Demonstrating exercises effectively and providing hands-on guidance during sessions.
  • Being physically active and energetic for extended periods during training sessions.

8. Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Collaborating with other fitness professionals, such as nutritionists or physiotherapists, to create comprehensive fitness programs.
  • Working effectively as part of a gym team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Supporting colleagues in providing quality service to all gym members.

9. Time Management

  • Managing time effectively to accommodate multiple clients, group sessions, or gym activities.
  • Keeping training sessions punctual, organized, and focused on clients’ goals.
  • Balancing personal training with administrative tasks such as scheduling, record-keeping, and planning.

10. Adaptability and Problem-Solving

  • Adapting training methods to fit clients’ varying abilities, fitness levels, and preferences.
  • Modifying workouts if a client has physical limitations or injuries.
  • Finding creative solutions to challenges, such as limited equipment or space.

11. Technological Proficiency

  • Using fitness apps or software to track clients’ progress and manage schedules.
  • Familiarity with gym management systems and booking software.
  • Integrating digital tools or online platforms for virtual training sessions (if applicable).

12. Professionalism and Ethical Conduct

  • Displaying a strong work ethic and professionalism in all interactions with clients and staff.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and respecting clients’ privacy, especially regarding personal health and fitness goals.
  • Continually pursuing professional development through fitness certifications or education.
