Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • General: This role is a blend of hands on ‘in the business’ and executive level ‘on the business’ work. To succeed you will enjoy rolling up your sleeves, leading a team and contributing to strategy
  • Project Delivery: Manage, standardize & validate the structure of business cases for product development, headcount, engineering resources, budgets, general strategic & roadmap prioritization
  • Experimentation: Define success, measure / validate experiments and help ingrain an experimental mindset within the teams
  • Forecasting and Insights: Provide a macro-led business intelligence view to the organization to prevent missed opportunities, surmount obstacles at all organizational levels and drive commercial behaviors
  • Analytics & Alerts: Quantitative analysis, data mining and presentation of business metrics; identify drivers and build an end-to-end communication framework based on business value, effort and urgency
  • Process Improvement: Work with all teams to drive inter- and intra- departmental efficiencies, optimize processes and prioritize system enhancements
  • Reporting: Build dashboards, internal / external reports and present key datasets to enable all team members to efficiently and effectively monitor performance and prioritize their efforts
  • Leadership: Lead a small team of experts to deliver the above functions and be excited by the challenge of mentoring team members across the chain and connectivity teams

What you’ll Need to Succeed:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in analytics/data science/insights/strategy
  • 2+ years’ experience leading analytics, operational, product or other technical teams
  • Expert domain of data analysis and data visualization tools and software such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, Python, R, or similar
  • Strong statistical modelling and machine learning knowledge
  • Strong experience in finding data insights and provide business recommendation to the business
  • Excellent communicator with superior written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and coordinate resources
  • Strong program/project management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree ideally in a business or quantitative subject (e.g. computer science, mathematics, engineering, science, economics or finance)
  • Experience in articulating strategic issues and negotiating with C-level executives – experience in leading strategy consulting projects a plus
  • People management – track record of developing stars
  • Ability and willingness to drive projects independently, working efficiently to deliver results rapidly and engaging the relevant stakeholders throughout the process

Desired candidate profile

  1. Advanced Analytics Expertise:

    • Strong knowledge of data analysis techniques, including statistical methods, predictive modeling, data mining, and machine learning.
    • Expertise in descriptive analytics, diagnostic analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics to drive business strategies and outcomes.
    • Ability to interpret large and complex datasets, identify trends, and generate actionable insights.
  2. Data Management and Strategy:

    • Deep understanding of data governance, data quality, and data management principles.
    • Experience in developing data strategies and frameworks for data collection, cleaning, storage, and processing.
    • Ensuring proper integration of data across multiple sources and departments to create a unified data ecosystem.
  3. Data Visualization and Reporting:

    • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or QlikView to create clear, actionable, and visually compelling reports and dashboards.
    • Ability to translate complex data findings into user-friendly, executive-level presentations and reports.
    • Strong command of Excel for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization, especially in creating complex reports and dashboards.
  4. Leadership and Team Management:

    • Experience managing and mentoring a team of data analysts, data scientists, and other analytics professionals.
    • Ability to foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, promoting continuous learning and professional development.
    • Leadership in driving team performance and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  5. Business Acumen:

    • Strong understanding of business operations, objectives, and challenges, particularly in areas such as marketing, finance, sales, and operations.
    • Ability to translate data insights into business recommendations that drive growth, efficiency, and strategic decision-making.
    • Experience working with key business stakeholders to prioritize analytics projects and initiatives.
  6. Advanced Analytical Tools and Techniques:

    • Expertise in using statistical tools and programming languages like R, Python, or SAS for advanced data analysis.
    • Familiarity with Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and databases like SQL for managing large datasets.
    • Experience in using machine learning algorithms for predictive and prescriptive analytics, and implementing them in business applications.
  7. Problem Solving and Critical Thinking:

    • Ability to define business problems and translate them into data-driven analytical approaches.
    • Expertise in identifying key drivers and metrics and developing models that support business decisions.
    • Strong problem-solving skills to tackle complex data challenges and provide actionable recommendations.
  8. Project Management:

    • Proven experience in project management, ensuring that analytics initiatives are delivered on time and within budget.
    • Skilled in setting priorities, managing timelines, and aligning analytics projects with business objectives.

Soft Skills

  1. Communication and Presentation:

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for presenting findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior executives.
    • Ability to craft clear narratives that highlight the business implications of data insights.
    • Comfort in delivering presentations to executive teams, explaining the value of data insights in the context of the business strategy.
  2. Stakeholder Management:

    • Ability to work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver impactful analytics solutions.
    • Building relationships with stakeholders across the organization and guiding them on data-driven decision-making.
  3. Collaboration and Influence:

    • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with other departments such as IT, product management, and marketing.
    • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive the adoption of data analytics across the organization.
