Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Develop Client Operations Technical, Core Business Technology strategy, setting up processes and procedures for accelerated adoption. Maintain and manage client Operations technology roadmaps in-line with company’s objectives, contribute to Autonomous Operation Journey and ensure timely delivery of technology KPIs.

Formulate and implement a comprehensive AI strategy encompassing the development and deployment of AI-driven solutions across operations. Manage the AIQ portfolio to scale AI products within OPCO, driving efficiency improvements, operational enhancements, and sustainable growth.

Profile matching below criteria will be contacted

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Subsurface discipline, advanced degree is preferable.
  • 12+ years of experience, including at least 5 years in a Senior Engineer position in subsurface function within the oil & Gas industry.
  • Surface Engineering Expertise:

    • Deep understanding of surface treatments and coating technologies such as electroplating, anodizing, hard coating, thermal spraying (HVOF, plasma spray), chemical vapor deposition (CVD), physical vapor deposition (PVD), and laser hardening.
    • Expertise in the selection and application of surface materials for specific mechanical properties (e.g., wear resistance, corrosion resistance, friction reduction, and heat resistance).
  • Materials Science:

    • In-depth knowledge of materials science, including the properties and behaviors of metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites.
    • Expertise in the interaction between surface coatings and base materials, including their mechanical, chemical, and physical properties.
  • Surface Characterization Techniques:

    • Proficiency in surface analysis techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and optical profilometry.
    • Ability to perform surface roughness measurements, microhardness testing, and surface composition analysis.
  • Wear and Corrosion Testing:

    • Conducting wear testing (e.g., pin-on-disk, tribological testing) and corrosion testing (e.g., salt spray, immersion, electrochemical methods) to assess the performance of surface treatments.
    • Developing and interpreting performance data to optimize surface treatments for specific applications.
  • Surface Finishing Technologies:

    • Expertise in various surface finishing techniques such as grinding, polishing, shot peening, and abrasive blasting.
    • Understanding the effects of surface finishes on material performance and product longevity.
  • Coating Process Development:

    • Leading the development of novel coating and surface treatment processes to meet specific engineering requirements (e.g., improving durability, enhancing adhesion, or reducing friction).
    • Managing the optimization of existing surface processes for better efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Product Design for Surface Treatment:

    • Collaborating with design teams to ensure components are designed to be compatible with surface treatments, accounting for factors like geometry, tolerances, and material properties.
    • Identifying critical areas in product design where surface treatments can enhance performance, such as high-wear zones or parts exposed to aggressive environments.
  • Sustainability and Environmental Impact:

    • Knowledge of environmentally friendly and sustainable surface treatment technologies, such as using less toxic chemicals or energy-efficient processes.
    • Ensuring that surface technology processes comply with environmental regulations and sustainability goals.

    • Leading and managing a team of surface technology engineers, researchers, and technicians to develop and implement innovative surface treatment solutions.
    • Providing technical guidance, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring the development of team members’ skills and capabilities.
  2. Project Management:

    • Overseeing surface technology projects from concept to implementation, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet performance specifications.
    • Coordinating with cross-functional teams (design, manufacturing, testing, and quality) to ensure successful project execution.
  3. Client and Stakeholder Communication:

    • Interfacing with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and management, to understand project requirements and communicate progress.
    • Presenting surface technology strategies, results, and recommendations to senior management and clients.
  4. Budget and Resource Management:

    • Managing the resources, budgets, and timelines for surface technology projects, ensuring efficient use of materials, equipment, and personnel.
    • Identifying and procuring the necessary tools, technologies, and services required for surface engineering tasks.
  5. Quality Assurance and Control:

    • Ensuring that surface treatments and coatings meet the required quality standards and performance criteria.
    • Developing and implementing inspection and testing protocols to verify the effectiveness and consistency of surface treatments.
  6. Problem-Solving and Innovation:

    • Identifying issues with surface treatments or coatings, troubleshooting problems, and developing solutions to improve product performance.
    • Driving continuous improvement initiatives in surface technology processes, materials, and application techniques.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills for preparing detailed technical reports, presenting findings, and leading meetings.
    • Ability to effectively convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including clients and senior management.

    • Working closely with other engineering teams (mechanical, chemical, design, and manufacturing) to ensure seamless integration of surface treatments into products and production processes.
    • Collaborating with suppliers and external partners to stay updated on the latest surface treatment technologies and innovations.

    • Ensuring high-quality and precise execution of surface treatments, focusing on the microscopic and macroscopic characteristics of the material surfaces.
    • Monitoring quality metrics to ensure that products meet the desired specifications and standards.

    • Using data-driven approaches to analyze the performance of surface treatments, conducting experiments, and interpreting results.
    • Developing innovative solutions to optimize surface treatments and address challenges in various applications.
  5. Time Management:

    • Managing multiple projects and deadlines, ensuring that tasks are completed on time while maintaining high standards of quality.
