Roles and responsibilities
- As an AC Technician you are responsible to install, service and repair temperature and air quality control systems and your role will include key responsibilities such as:
- Repair, maintain and provide technical attention to all electrical and mechanical refrigeration systems of the hotel - freezer, fridges, ice makers, fan coil units, chiller, etc.
- Maintain preventively all air-conditioning and refrigeration systems within the hotel
- Check on performance of refrigeration systems and components
- Verify all door closing systems on walk in coolers / freezer (door gaskets / latches)
- Check and maintain all defrosting systems and automation of ice makers
- Work on maintenance requests from all departments
- Ensure routine cleaning of fan coil units and air-handling unit filters
- Check on performance of air-conditioning and chill water systems
- Cooperate with all engineering colleagues in detention of failures of air-condition and refrigeration system and function set up
- Strict control on venting of CFC’s to atmosphere
- Overhauling of air-condition / refrigeration equipment and systems
- Check all refrigeration and oil levels and control of major repairs
- Cooperate and inform Engineering Storekeeper on purchase of parts
- Carry out all works as per the country technical regulations and safety standards
Qualifications
- Must have the appropriate documented training from a technical/vocational institute.
- One year operating experience in a hotel engineering department.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
Desired candidate profile
. Technical Expertise in HVAC Systems
- Comprehensive knowledge of various air conditioning systems (e.g., central air, split units, ductless, window units, and refrigeration systems).
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose faults in complex HVAC systems, including mechanical and electrical components (compressors, condensers, evaporators).
- Understanding of refrigeration cycles and components like refrigerants, pressure systems, and thermostats.
2. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting
- Strong ability to identify and resolve issues, such as poor airflow, temperature inconsistencies, refrigerant leaks, or electrical malfunctions.
- Experience with diagnostic tools, such as pressure gauges, multimeters, refrigerant leak detectors, and manometers, to find the root causes of problems.
- Knowledge of how to recalibrate or reset HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance.
3. Installation and Repair Skills
- Expertise in installing air conditioning systems, including mounting units, connecting refrigerants, and ensuring systems are properly sealed and ventilated.
- Ability to repair or replace faulty components, including motors, fans, compressors, or thermostats, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Knowledge of proper wiring and electrical work for connecting HVAC systems to electrical circuits.
4. Familiarity with Safety Protocols
- Understanding of safety guidelines when working with hazardous materials, such as refrigerants and high-voltage electrical systems.
- Adherence to local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations, especially regarding refrigerant handling and disposal.
- Knowledge of using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and respirators to ensure safe work practices.
5. Customer Service and Communication
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with customers, explain issues, and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Ability to provide advice on proper system maintenance to extend the life of HVAC units and improve energy efficiency.
- Handling customer concerns or complaints professionally and ensuring high satisfaction with services provided.
6. Attention to Detail and Precision
- Precision in measuring and assessing the proper functionality of HVAC systems to ensure they are operating at peak efficiency.
- A focus on inspecting air ducts, air filters, refrigerant levels, and condenser coils to identify potential issues before they worsen.
- Keeping accurate records of work done, parts replaced, and materials used for future reference or warranty purposes.
