• Proficiency in making a wide variety of cocktails, both classic and contemporary.
• Knowledge of different spirits, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks.
• Understanding of garnishes, glassware, and drink presentation.

• Delivering excellent service by being attentive, polite, and friendly.
• Anticipating guest needs and offering personalized recommendations or drinks.
• Building rapport with guests to create a welcoming atmosphere.

3. Communication Skills

• Clear and effective communication when taking orders, interacting with guests, and coordinating with colleagues.
• Active listening to understand customer preferences and provide suitable recommendations.

4. Multitasking and Time Management

• Handling multiple drink orders at once while maintaining high service quality.
• Managing busy bar hours, especially during peak times, without compromising on service.

5. Physical Stamina and Endurance

• Standing for long periods, handling heavy bottles or kegs, and working in a fast-paced environment.
• Being able to lift and carry heavy items like drink trays, bottles, or stock.

6. Cash Handling and POS Systems

• Processing payments, handling cash and credit transactions, and managing tabs accurately.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems to input orders and process transactions.

7. Attention to Detail

• Ensuring the correct drinks are served with the right ingredients, measurements, and presentation.
• Keeping track of orders and ensuring no mistakes are made during busy periods.

8. Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations

• Adhering to all safety and hygiene guidelines, including proper handling of alcohol and maintaining a clean work area.
• Ensuring compliance with local laws regarding the service of alcohol, including verifying legal drinking age.

9. Conflict Resolution

• Managing guest conflicts, such as disputes over billing or unruly behavior, calmly and professionally.
• Handling difficult or intoxicated customers tactfully, ensuring their safety and that of others.

• Being able to create signature cocktails or adapt drinks based on customer preferences.
• Offering suggestions or customized drinks based on the customer’s tastes or dietary needs.

Desired candidate profile

You are a bar professional which is in an artistic and creative role, and as such the management team will look to you to develop original and exciting beverages using the best of local ingredients and traditions. You are responsible for ensuring that guests are delighted by the quality, creativity and variety of our beverage offerings. Your key duties and responsibilities are to serve the guests in accordance with our standards and quality in a gracious and courteous manner, to make sure that the bar is professionally set up at all times, and to process drink orders quickly and efficiently. You will be expected to take pride in all facets of service, quality, appearance, and cleanliness of yourself and your area of responsibility, and you must understand and adhere to the Beverage Department Standard Operating Procedures, and Beverage Manual.
